Joe Biden has issued a scathing comment about Donald Trump after a recently published poll revealed whether Americans prefer the current president or Barack Obama.

The figures put together by Marquette University revealed Americans favor the 44th POTUS over Trump based on a survey of 1,005 adults across the country from September 5 to September 24 this year.

The poll revealed 42 per cent of US citizens said they viewed Trump favourably, to 57 per cent who said they viewed him unfavorably, leaving the POTUS with a net favorability of -15 points.

Meanwhile, 57 per cent said they view Obama favorably, against 40 per cent who didn't, giving him a net favorability of 17 points.

Following the eye-opening poll, Trump's predecessor, Biden, has slammed the current president, saying he has 'taken a wrecking ball' to democracy.

Speaking at a gala held in Omaha by the Nebraska Democratic party, the former president touched on Trump’s demolition of the White House’s East Wing to build a ballroom.

"I knew Trump was going to taking a wrecking ball to the country, but I had no idea, I have to admit, I didn’t know there was going to be an actual wrecking ball," Biden said.

"It’s a perfect symbol of his presidency. Trump has taken a wrecking ball not only to the people’s house but to the Constitution, to the rule of law, to our very democracy."

Biden continued: "He now says we are quote ‘in a golden age.’ The only gold is the stuff he’s hanging on the mantle. You work for us, Mr. President. We don’t work for you. You work for us, not just billionaires and millionaires. I'm angry."

The former president announced back in May that he had been diagnosed with an 'aggressive' form of prostate cancer.

His personal office issued this statement at the time stating: “Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms.

"On Friday he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone."

As per CNN, Biden touched on his cancer diagnosis a matter of weeks after he completed a course of radiation therapy.

"I thank God for the doctors and the nurses and the incredible breakthroughs we’re making in cancer research," he said.

"Now Trump and his Republican friends are cutting government funding for health care and making it more expensive, more expensive for virtually everyone."
