People have been left questioning the future of the United States after a video of President Trump looking far from interested in the conference he holding went viral.

The clip was from a recent White House press conference, in which Trump announced that the government had plans to work with manufacturers of weight loss drugs.

Scenes from the event have already circulated on social media after a business executive fainted during the meeting.

One image shows officials rushing to the aid of the executive, who is now recovering, as Trump stands impassively by his desk looking ahead.

Dr Mehmet Oz was among those who rushed to help the man, with Dr Oz later telling Newsmax: “He is doing much better. I actually just corresponded with him so he’s doing okay.”

But another moment from the meeting has also caught the public's attention for different reasons.

Dr Oz, who is the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, had been making an announcement about the plans to work with weight loss drug manufacturers.

People focused on Trump sitting behind him, with his eyes closed as he slumped in his chair.

One person posted the video to X writing: "Dr. Oz linking obesity to dementia while Trump’s slumped over at his desk is absolutely a choice..."

Others were quick to voice their concerns, with one even writing: "Trump is literally passed out slumped in his chair. Wtf are we doing people."

Another person said they couldn't believe their eyes, writing: "I have to go back and pause earlier, I still can’t believe it. What a mess."

Meanwhile, a third sarcastically wrote: "Does everyone not take afternoon naps at work?"

There was one person who defended the president, highlighting his busy schedule including flying back from Asia.

They wrote: "Yeah, kinda happens after World Travel conducting Peace Deals, etc ... Someone please get Mr. President a pillow....he's jet lagged."

But someone else took to social media to point out that the entire event appeared not to have gone well from start to finish.

Recalling the sequence of events, they wrote: "This is the funniest presser in a long time. Trump sleep, RFK leaving when dude passed out, Trump standing there looking all weird, Oz telling us we’ll all lose over 300 pounds. What a sh*tshow."

Another even recalled a nickname used for President Joe Biden when he was in office, commenting that the president was 'Sleepy Don'.
