New bodycam footage has revealed the moment Luigi Mangione was arrested at a McDonald's restaurant in Pennsylvania.

The arrest took place five days after United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was killed on the streets of New York last year. Thompson, a 50-year-old father of two, was shot as he was leaving the Hilton Hotel on Sixth Avenue, which prompted an intense search for the shooter by authorities.

After Mangione entered the McDonald's restaurant, the manager of the Altoona branch told police in a 911 call: "I have a customer here that some other customers were suspicious of, that he looks like the CEO shooter from New York."

The manager went on to say that customers had pointed Mangione out, but did not want to approach him.

"The only thing you can see is his eyebrows," she said.

Not long later, police arrived at the McDonald's, and newly released footage shows the moment they approached Mangione and asked him to lower his face mask.

When asked his name, Mangione can be heard telling them it's 'Mark Rosario' before producing an ID card which ended up being fake.

As an officer approached Mangione, he said: "Can you pull your mask down real quick for me?"

"Do you have your ID on you?" The officer asked, before Mangione took out an ID and handed it over.

Moments later, another officer took the fake ID to check if it was legitimate.

Following his arrest, Mangione now faces a first degree murder charge as well as more than a dozen state and federal charges for the alleged targeted hit.

The 911 audio as well as the arrest footage has been released while Mangione has been in court in New York over the past couple of weeks, challenging the admissibility of the evidence in his case. One officer searched Mangione's backpack during the arrest, which Mangione's defense argue should have been conducted under a search warrant.

His lawyers have asked the judge to stop the prosecution from using these key pieces of evidence, including his journal and the alleged murder weapon itself.

Items found in the backpack included a handgun, which prosecutors say is a ballistic match to the shell casings and bullet found on the scene, as well as a red notebook which contained writings, notes and to-do lists.

There were also a number of personal items in the bag, including toiletries, socks, masks, hand sanitizer, protein bars, deodorant, a beard clipper, and tweezers.
