A woman on TikTok has sparked an argument on social media about what to do in an airport after getting a controversial request from another traveler.

Airports are kind of a weird place, time moves a little differently, Burger King is open at 8 A.M, people drink alcohol first thing in the morning and security is pretty tight.

We have all been there, but a TikToker has started a furious debate after having an incident with another traveler.

A woman named Cara, who goes by carasdigitaldiary_ on the social media platform, said she had never been so caught off guard from the response she got after making a request.

Speaking to the camera after it had happened, Cara said she was sitting in an airport waiting for her flight when she needed to use the bathroom.

She asked a woman sat near her if she could watch her bags and to Cara’s shock, she refused.

She said: “I’m in the airport and I just asked someone ‘hey, can you watch my stuff I'm about to run to the bathroom real quick’ I have a Beis carry-on and my purse.

“I fully expected her to say yes and she goes, ‘No, you should honestly take it with you.’ Keep in mind the bathroom… is a few steps away from where we’re sitting.

“I’ve never been so caught off guard…she fully said no which is fine, you don’t have to watch it but I’m not going to take all of my belongings a few steps away when you are already sitting here and you could just watch it.”

Now, while it might not be such a big deal to some, people in the comments sections started debating whether the woman behaved appropriately.

Some argued it was a clear safety issue and she was right to say no, while others insisted it wasn’t a big deal.

One TikTok user wrote: “Girl that’s the 1# thing you don’t do at an airport.”

Another added: “They literally announce over loudspeaker not to do this every 5 minutes at every airport in the country.”

With a third writing: “No way this is real. They literally announce constantly to not accept anything for anyone else. Take your stuff with you."

However, some have defended Cara and said: “I have watched multiple ppls stuff & they’ve watched mine I thought this was normal.”

With another adding: “These comments are insane lol it’s such a common request and I’ve never had someone said no nor have I ever said no to someone who has asked lmao.”

However, most argued it is probably best to err on the side of caution when it comes to luggage and airports.
