US President Donald Trump’s comments about the ‘fascination’ of the Epstein files have been met with major backlash after an interview clip resurfaced following the reveal that his name appears in the files over one million times.

Trump has made many different comments about the files since their release, his association with the disgraced financier, and the Department of Justice’s General Attorney Pam Bondi’s handling of the case.

Having previously said she should release files she deems relevant and also claiming his name wouldn’t appear in the files, a Democrat who viewed the unredacted documents has confirmed the POTUS’s name is noted over a million times.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the senior Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, told Axios that ‘there's ton of redacted stuff,’ and Trump’s name ‘appears more than a million times'.

"So it's all over the place."

He went on to say that he searched for the keywords 'Trump',' 'Donald' or 'Don', and that he ‘obviously didn't have the time to review each one, and I obviously cannot guarantee that every mention of a Donald is Donald Trump as opposed to some other Donald.’

This revelation comes after a resurfaced clip of Trump talking about the files to reporters in July last year popped up on social media.

There, Trump can be seen claiming he’s not in the files, and that the public’s interest in the files is ‘boring’.

He said on the tarmac of Joint Base Andrews that he doesn’t know why his supporters find the files of interest, telling a journalist that Epstein has been ‘dead for a long time’, and ‘he was never a big factor in terms of life.’

The POTUS went on to say: "I don't understand what the interest or the fascination is. I really don’t.”

He added: “I don’t understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody. It's pretty boring stuff and I don't understand why it keeps going.”

He then claimed: “I think really only pretty bad people, including fake news, want to keep something like that going."

People online have watched the clip and have had some pretty strong reactions.

One person wrote: “Boring stuff? To some people it’s way more than stuff! People need to be locked up for their crimes!”

Another said: “He's not reading the room. The longer this continues, the more suspicious people will become and wonder what it is in those files that is so awful.”

However, others understood his angle, with a user noting: “Im sure he wants to focus on making the country better and thats kind of hard when every question is about the files..think about it..I dont blame him.”

Despite his name appearing in the files, for now, the names Trump, Donald and Don cannot be ascertained that those names pertain to the POTUS without further confirmation and research.

Additionally, being named in the files does not necessarily implicate wrongdoing.

However, one Mar-a-Lago exchange was ‘one of the first documents I came across’, which included Epstein’s legal team quoted Trump revealing Epstein ‘was not a member’ of his Mar-a-Lago club but was instead a ‘guest’ who had not been asked to leave the exclusive location.
