Warning: This article contains discussion of child abuse which some readers may find distressing.

One word mentioned more than 800 times in the latest slew of documents released from Jeffrey Epstein's estate may have been used as a 'code word'.

Convicted paedophile Epstein has become infamous for his connections to rich and powerful people around the world. Evidence is continuing to emerge from survivors that Epstein ran an international sex trafficking ring, which also trafficked children for sexual abuse by Epstein's acquaintances and friends.

A number of Epstein's associates, including US president Donald Trump and disgraced former member of the British royal family Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, have been accused of having sex with children. Despite this, Trump himself has not been accused of a crime in connection with his association with Epstein.

While emails from Epstein's estate indicate a brazen and open approach to his dealings, one word that comes up frequently is now thought to have been a code.

The word is 'pizza', and emojis for 'cheese' and 'pizza' are thought to be a code indicating child sex abuse material.

British newspaper The Telegraph has previously reported on online safety groups alerting people to the words that paedophiles use to communicate, but not say what they want explicitly. 'Cheese pizza' is believed to be a such a term because it has the initials 'CP', the same as 'child pornography'.

In some instances, the words 'cheese' and 'pizza' do appear to be used in genuine discussions about food, but some excerpts raise serious questions about whether they were actually being used to refer to something more sinister.

'Cheese' appears over 1,138 times, in contexts which appear very out of place or to not really make sense if interpreted literally.

For example, one email sees Epstein writing: "There are millions of babies, very little good vegatble [sic] cream cheese."

Approximately three million more documents have now been released from Epstein's estate, but even these do not make up the entirety of the information which is held in the files. Anybody who wishes to can access the files on the US Department of Justice website.

While someone being mentioned in the files is not in itself a suggestion or proof of wrongdoing, the information which is coming out has shed more light on disturbing connections between Epstein and powerful figures, and raised serious questions which must be answered.

If you’ve been affected by any of these issues or want to speak to someone in confidence regarding the welfare of a child, the Childhelp USA National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and receives calls from throughout the United States, Canada, US Virgin Islands, Guam and Puerto Rico.
