A travel expert has highlighted key items you should make sure aren’t in your checked luggage when you fly.

Traveling can be stressful at the best of times and the best journeys tend to be the ones that go off without a hitch.

But that doesn’t always happen, in fact it doesn’t take a lot for something to go wrong turning this dream trip into a nightmare.

Thankfully a travel expert on TikTok has outlined some things travelers should make sure they never have in their baggage if they are going to be checking it in, just in case.

Just so you know, these things won’t typically cause you a lot of issues with your airline or security but personally, if things go wrong it could be massive downer for you.

TikTok influencer @thepointsguy argued that each of these items was better of being in your carry on bag rather than checked.

Prescription drugs

Now, while you might be fearful drugs would ring alarm bells at security, the TikToker warned that in the event your bag is lost or stolen, it can prove to be quite annoying for one simple reason.

He said It can be rather difficult to actually get refills from your doctor in the event your subscription is lost.

This can prove to be even trickier if you are abroad, and even more so if it is a weekend or holiday period.

This can also be an issue if your prescription doesn’t even allow for refills before the previous prescription runs out.

Electronics

A lot of people are certainly guilty of doing this one but there are risks that come with it.

The influencer noted that when you do hand over your luggage to the airline multiple people can get access to your bag.

Now, while the vast majority of people aren’t thieves, there can be some crafty individuals who will rifle through your belongings looking for expensive electronic items.

Valuables

Now, you would hope that your most valuable possessions would be safest in your big suitcase that is being checked, but that isn’t always the case.

Airport workers can lug your suitcase around rather indelicately, which can obviously lead to breaks and damage to your goods.

As well as this, if your luggage goes missing it could end up being both a financial and emotional loss on your part.

Daily necessities

This tip is a bit more practical-based and just generally means it is better to have these things on your person rather.

It can be beneficial to have a different change of shoes, clothing for if it gets cold and other things like glasses and toiletries to hand, just in case you need them.

Hard to find items

This tip is a pretty self explanatory. Even if you are going for a short stay, if you think it might be hard to find, probably best to have it on your person in your carry on than your checked luggage.

The influencer warned again, if things go missing during transit, you might be left struggling finding replacements on your trip.

Probably worth considering these tips next time you fly out, just incase.
