Plane etiquette is a hot topic of conversation online, one that perfectly divides much of the internet.

In recent months, many have described their travel dilemmas, including the pain of sitting in the middle seat, and many people's outrage after a woman used a flashing charger on six-hour red-eye flight.

Well, you thought that was bad - which is it, but this particular incident well and truly blows that all out of the park.

A SpiceJet passenger didn't have the best of flights recently after getting trapped in the lavatory for nearly the entire flight.

The unnamed male passenger was trapped inside the aircraft’s toilet for more than an hour on Tuesday (16 January) on Flight SG-268, which took off from Mumbai airport at 2am local time to Bengaluru, as per the Indian Express.

The passenger from seat no 14D went to the toilet as soon as the seatbelt signs switched on onboard the flight.

However, he was about to live a true nightmare, as after that he could not get out of the toilet due to the door failing to open.

"A passenger unfortunately got stuck inside the lavatory for about an hour," the budget airline said in a statement.

The crew and many others onboard tried to free the passenger from the toilet, but nothing ever seemed to work.

It meant that the passenger was in the toilet for the landing of the commercial aircraft at Kempegowda International Airport.

The passenger was understandably panicked by the whole ordeal, so flight attendants onboard slid a note under the door in an attempt to reassure the passenger.

The note has subsequently gone viral following all the drama.

"Sir we tried our best to open the door, however, we could not," it began.

"Do not panic. We are landing in a few minutes, so please close the commode lid and sit on it and secure yourself. As soon as the main door is open, an engineer will come. Do not panic."

And that's exactly what happened as the plane landed, with two engineers boarding and breaking down the door once it was on the ground.

After the man was freed from the toilet captive, he received 'immediate medical support'.

Since the passenger's story made worldwide headlines, the airline has issued him with a full refund.

"SpiceJet regrets and apologizes for the inconvenience caused to the passenger," SpiceJet said in a statement.

"The passenger is being provided a full refund."

LADbible Group has contacted SpiceJet for further comment.
