Typically, you don't always associate the profession of being a flight attendant with a high salary.

Well, you say that but the median salary of flight attendants in the US in 2021 was $61,640 - above the US national average of $59,428 per annum.

Earlier this year, a woman working as a flight attendant for Emirates revealed the glamorous lifestyle she lives.

Over the years, the airline has built up a reputation for its luxurious and high-class service, with flight attendants wearing distinctive headscarves and red lipstick.

With that luxury, the airline receives a lot of exposure online as influencers shows off their bojuee experiences to massive amounts of followers.

While we've all seen what it's like to travel with Emirates first class on numerous occasions at this point, the role of an Emirates cabin crew is less talked about.

Thankfully, one cabin crew member has shed light on what happens when you work for the airline and the seriously generous pay check you walk away with.

It makes sense given that flight attendants do a great deal more than just serve drinks. Many airlines require them to have knowledge of first aid, as well as the unenviable task of handling rude passengers.

Makeup artist-turned-flight attendant Alexandra Cosoff, 33, revealed the many benefits of her life in the skies, and says it's allowed her to live her 'dream life'.

She told news.com.au: "After I joined, I started in economy class for one and half years, before I got promoted to business class and the business promotions events team. I have been so lucky. I’ve had the most amazing time.

“Our accommodation is provided and salary is tax-free – and not just that, we have a lot of other things taken care of like transport, laundry, we have full medical and dental coverage. We are very well looked after.

“What was very attractive to me was also not paying tax on top of my salary. I live in my own apartment. You can either get company-provided accommodation or opt for accommodation allowance.”

The flight attendant has detailed her salary.

The basic starting salary at Emirates is 4,430 Emirati Dirhams a month, around $1,206.66/£970 tax-free, plus an hourly flying rate of AED63.75, or just under £14 per hour.

Combined, the company's website gives an average monthly salary, depending on the number of hours, of AED10,170 per month, or just over $2,761.64/£2,220.

This salary is for working in economy class, with staff in higher classes paid more.

“Ever since I was a young girl I wanted to be a flight attendant,” Alexandra added.

“I remember seeing Emirates cabin crew on TV with their red hats and striking red lipstick and thinking, ‘Wow they’re so beautiful, I want to do that.’”

Describing her job as a 'dream come true', she urged anyone thinking about a career in the skies to go for it.

“I have learned so much about the world, other cultures and also myself – and best of all you make amazing friends along the way,” she said.
