Simone Biles makes history with eighth US championship win one decade after her first

Biles is officially the GOAT after receiving a two-day total of 118.40, four points ahead of runner-up Shilese Jones.

Simone Biles has made history after winning her eighth all-around national title at the US Gymnastics Championships.

Yep, she’s still got it.

The 26-year-old is officially the GOAT after receiving a two-day total of 118.40, which was four points ahead of runner-up Shilese Jones and Florida junior Leanne Wong, who placed third at the Center in San Jose.

This lands her the record for the most US all-round national titles.

Biles is also the oldest woman to win a US national title since USA Gymnastics began running the event in 1963.

She received her first national title a decade ago at the US Gymnastics Championships in Hartford, Connecticut.

While many gymnasts at this age contemplate retiring, Biles is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

“I don’t think about numbers,” Biles told The Guardian.

“I think about my performance. And I think overall, I hit eight for eight.

"I guess it’s a lucky number this year.”

Biles previously shared the record for most US all-around wins with Alfred Jochim, who won his seventh and final in 1933.

It comes after Biles took a highly publicized two-year long break following the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

The former ‘Final Five’ member said she needed time away from the sport to work on her mental health.

At the time, Biles also appeared in front of Congress to provide her testimony over the abuse she endured at the hands of disgraced former doctor Larry Nassar.

"I'm still continuing to work on myself and go to therapy,” she said during her break, as per Reuters.

"I think I'm in better shape than I was in 2021 - I think that goes mentally and physically."

Now, after the well deserved hiatus, the star athlete says she’s only doing it for ‘herself’.

Rather than revealing if she had her eyes on a third Olympics, Biles is keeping her cards close to her chest.

"I like to keep [my goals] personal, just so that I know what I’m aiming for,” Biles said told The Guardian.

“I think it’s better that way. I’m trying to move a little bit differently this year than I have in the past. I think it’s working so far, so I’m going to keep it secretive.”

That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a couple of more crowns in her future.
