Olympian Lisa Buckwitz has revealed how OnlyFans helped bolster her sporting career as she prepares to represent Germany in the 2026 Winter Games next month.

The 31-year-old bobsledder, who previously won gold at her last Olympic competition in 2018, has admitted that the subscription platform had been the 'best thing that could have happened' to her.

In a recent interview with the German outlet Bild, Buckwitz revealed that she had begun using the platform in November 2024, admitting that sponsorships alone were not enough to fund her career.

Buckwitz isn't the only Olympic athlete to have signed up for the platform to rake in a bit of extra cash; however, she has now credited OnlyFans with helping her to pay for the trip to Italy, where she will compete on the world stage when the games begin next month.

“It’s also a stroke of luck for me, as it allows me to finance my team,” Buckwitz said. “It’s the best thing that could have happened to me.”

In an Instagram post announcing news of her OnlyFans account, Buckwitz admitted she was 'sad' that she had to turn to other means of financing the sport, despite previous successes.

“It’s a bit sad that I can’t just focus on my competitive sport,” she wrote at the time. “Sure, I’m an Olympic champion. But nobody’s interested in Lisa Buckwitz just because of the gold medal. That’s unfortunately the downside.”

Explaining the decision, she wrote: “This partnership is all about sharing the heart and hustle behind my bobsleigh journey — showing you the grit, the goals, and everything in between.

"From intense training days to the exhilaration on race day, I’m inviting you behind the scenes to experience what it truly takes to push limits at the highest level."

Buckwitz currently offers a range of subscription bundles, starting at $59.98 for 3 months, $97.46 for 6 months, and $194.92 for 12 months.

Bobsledding is not cheap; the athlete cites plane tickets, equipment expenses, training camp, and bonuses for her pushers as some of the hefty costs, with just one season costing up to $59,000.

However, she says that she will 'definitely not show myself naked', adding that the sexual component of the website is 'of course a topic', but she has snapped pictures of herself in a bikini or a sports bra.

Buckwitz has bared all in front of a camera before; however, she posed naked on the cover of Playboy Germany in 2022 to highlight the importance of 'natural beauty'.

The Olympian made her sporting debut in 2018, reaching the podium in the two-woman bobsled event at the Pyeongchang Games in South Korea.

In 2022, she competed in the same event at the 2022 Beijing Games, but failed to medal, placing fourth.

Two years later, she regained a spot on the podium while competing in the two-woman event in Winterberg, Germany, where she won bronze in the Monobob event.

She will no doubt be hoping to scoop another medal when she arrives in Italy next month, where she will represent Germany at the games in Milan.
