Jake Paul makes controversial admission in post-fight interview after defeating Mike Tyson

The YouTuber-turned-boxer beat sports legend Iron Mike on points

Jake Paul made some unexpected remarks after defeating boxing legend Mike Tyson.

Paul and Tyson went head-to-head at the AT&T Stadium in Texas last night (November 15) in one of the biggest boxing matches of the year.

The YouTuber is 31 years Tyson junior, and the heavyweight champion hasn't had a professional fight in almost 20 years.

As to why he came out of retirement, the 58-year-old simply said 'because [he] can'.

But Tyson may now regret doing so after inexperienced boxer Paul proved victorious.

The eight-round fight, which was streamed on Netflix, was scored 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in favor of the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

He doesn't think last night's defeat will be his last time in the ring, however.

When asked if that would be the case, Tyson said after his historic loss: "I don’t know. It depends on the situation."

“I don’t think so," he doubled down.

He went on to praise Paul's performance and hailed him as a 'good fighter'.

"I didn’t prove nothing to anyone, just myself," Tyson continued.

"I’m not one of these guys who goes out to please the world, I’m just happy with what I can do."

Also speaking in a post-match press interview, Paul addressed people's suggestions that he didn't give the fight his everything and had 'pulled' some of his punches.

Because of this, some viewers branded the highly anticipated match as 'the worst fight' in history.

"I was trying to hurt him a little bit," the 27-year-old explained, as per The Independant.

"I was scared he was going to hurt me, I was trying to hurt him..."

Answering someone's question about if he took his foot off the gas in later rounds, Paul said: "Yeah, definitely, definitely a bit. I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want [to hurt him]."

There's a very good chance he did hurt Tyson though as he landed a whopping 78 punches, compared to the retired sportsman who only landed 18, BBC Sport reports.

While Paul and Tyson had several slanging matches in the run up to their fight (as well as Tyson slapping the up-and-coming boxer across the face), they had nothing but niceties to say about one another after going head-to-head in Texas.

Paul said it was an 'honor' to fight Tyson, and labelled him as an 'icon'.

The celebrity pair also embraced one another afterwards, seemingly putting any bad blood behind them.
