Every controversial move by Hawk Tuah girl after she reportedly sells social media account for eye-watering sum

Haliey Welch's Hawk Tuah meme was the beginning of a series of controversies on social media

The Hawk Tuah girl has made a few wrong moves according to social media users, and amid the news that she’s selling her social media page, it’s time to list them all.

The famed Hawk Tuah girl, real name Hailey Welch, went viral, built an online empire and and has seen much of it crumble over the past year.

It all began in June 2024, when content creators Tim & Dee TV released a video of them speaking to women on boozy nights out.

Haliey Welch was asked what makes a guy 'go crazy' in bed and replied: "You gotta hawk tuah and spit on that thing."

Just from that one line, we saw Welch sell merchandise, grow a large following, and even start her own business ventures.

Now, a page reportedly run by Welch (or her camp) entitled HawkCoinX has been sold.

It had just shy of 400,000 followers - at 396,300, and while the buyer hasn’t been identified yet, they changed Welch’s page name to ‘Up Only Memes’ and shared a screenshot of their offer to buy the account for $325,000.

Even though this is a big move for her, and fans are divided on whether or not they’re happy for her, it’s nowhere near the first controversial thing she’s done.

She launched a failed memecoin which lost people’s life savings

It was in December of last year that Welch launched her $HAWK memecoin, which rapidly crashed in value, as per Crypto Times.

The coin, which was reportedly never registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), decreased within a matter of hours, with Bloomberg Law reporting the digital coin lost more than 90 per cent of its value during that short time.

Some fans would then go on to claim that they’d 'lost their life savings' after investing in her coin, and Welch confirmed that she was working with the authorities to help to get to the bottom of the problem.

In 2024, an investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was launched, but Welch's attorney claimed she wouldn't be facing any charges as a result of the investigation.

He said: "The SEC closed the investigation without making any findings against, or seeking any monetary sanctions from, Haliey.

"Because they did not bring any action against her, there are no restrictions on what she can do in regards to crypto or securities in the future."

She created a podcast show

After her fame blew up online and she was being talked about daily in the press and online, Welch decided to create her own podcast.

She explained in a clip on Twitter: "Along the way I realized that everybody's entitled to their own opinion. Well now, it's my time to talk."

Welch announced her new podcast Talk Tuah - which is aptly named after her viral meme.

"I'm sitting down with the coolest guests and having actual conversations with them," she said.

The podcast is in collaboration with Jake Paul's media company, Betr, and launched on September 10 with new weekly episodes.

Among the guests that were supposed to talk with Welch were comedian Whitney Cummings, Canadian social media star Josh Richards, and even Paul himself.

She announced her rebranding after her cryptocurrency controversy

Welch made her public return to the public on May 2 in a Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) event at ARIA's PokerGO Studio, after going into hiding following her memecoin controversy.

She took part in the game which would provide $10,000 to the winner, as well as featuring celebrities, including chess streamer Alexandra Botez, athletes Jose Canseco, Adrian Peterson and Mackenzie Dern, and influencers CJ So Cool and Suede Brooks.

While playing poker, she said to the table that she’s thinking of her future.

"I'm in the middle of rebranding right now," she continued. "I've had a lot of time to think. I want to rebrand."

As for what she’s going to do, she said: "I guess you'll have to watch and see."

She created a ‘tone deaf’ come-back video

After Welch went MIA on social media before, she suddenly dropped a video that got a lot of people angry by making a 'comeback' in the form of a video addressing her break from the internet.

In the video, she appears to be asleep before voiceovers can be heard addressing her alleged death.

“The ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ has died,” a voiceover can be heard saying.

Then, Welch ‘wakes up’ from her dream.

After falling back ‘asleep’, the next rumor she addresses is whether or not she is pregnant.

Welch is then seen with a faux baby bump, rinsing out an infant’s sippy cup as faux headlines flash up on the screen.

A clip of Joe Rogan is then played, where he is seen asking: “What’s going on with that ‘Hawk Tuah’ chick? Is she going to jail?”. This is played over the top while she pretends to be incarcerated.

Many people called this ‘tone deaf’ in light of people losing their life savings after investing in her memecoin, and as of right now, it doesn’t seem like she has been forgiven.
