A couple who welcomed another woman into their relationship has opened up about what it's like being in a throuple and how it affected their romance.
Alana Underwood and Kevin Jankay had been dating one another for three years when they decided to take a huge step in their relationship in 2020.
This step wasn't marriage though, but the decision to welcome a third person into their bed.
Alana had always identified as being straight and had only dated men, but she came to a stage where she wanted to explore the possibility that she was romantically interested in women as well.

However, instead of ending her relationship with Kevin, the couple agreed to have a one-off sexual experience with another woman.
Now 2026, Alana and Kevin are still happily together but that one-off sexual encounter ended up becoming a fully fledged polyamorous relationship with a woman named Megan Smith.

Megan was married to a woman at the time of their first meet up, and they ended up seeing each other on more occasions.

As time went on, Alana and Kevin realized their feelings for Megan weren't purely sexual, but that they'd started to develop romantic feelings for her too.
A few months into their rendez vous and Megan split from her wife for reasons she says had nothing to do with Alana and Kevin. Come January 2021, the trio officially became a throuple.
Reflecting on how welcoming a third person into their relationship has changed things for them, Kevin shared with PEOPLE: "You get double the support and double the affection. You can bounce something off one person and get feedback from another.
"If you’re in a quarrel or an argument with one person, the other person can show a perspective that you might not see because you’re in the heat of the moment."

For their relationship to really work, Megan says the three of them had to come to terms with the fact that perfect equality among their individual relationships was an unrealistic goal.
"The way you love each individual person is different," she explained. "That doesn’t mean it’s more or less — it’s just a different type of relationship. Like, mine and Alana’s relationship is very different from mine and Kevin’s. But that doesn’t mean it’s more or less. It’s just a different experience and a different type of love."
The throuple document their life together on social media. On their Instagram page 'Camp Throuple' they have 231,000 followers. They also have almost 300,000 followers on TikTok.
