Elon Musk reveals 'two-part plan' to take control of US Congress with 'America Party'

The Tesla boss has a new idea to shake up politics in the US

Elon Musk has revealed he has a 'two-part plan' to take control of US Congress with a new third party called the 'America Party'.

The tech billionaire and former head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) apparently has some plans up his sleeves to shake up the polarized two-party political system in the US.

Musk has stated he wants to see a new third party emerge, called the 'America Party', which he teased as an idea on the nation's Independence Day.

"Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system!" he wrote on July 4 on his social media platform, Twitter, making reference to the two leading parties, Democrats and Republicans.

"Should we create the America Party?" he posed to his followers in a poll with a 'yes' or 'no' response that expired after 24 hours.

Within an hour of posting his initiative on the holiday, the poll garnered more than 218,000 votes, and finalized with 1,248,856.

Among those who participated in the poll, the majority (65.4 percent) voted in favor of his idea.

While it's unclear what a new third party would stand for, particularly as the US does already have several other third parties on both sides of the political spectrum, Musk explained in a follow-up: "One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts."

The Tesla and SpaceX boss added: "Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people."

Musk's idea comes just weeks after his public fall out with President Donald Trump and after his role spearheading DOGE to slash the federal budget came to its natural end.

Trump's so-called 'first buddy' took to Twitter to rant about the POTUS in a series of statements that he later apologized for which included trying to implicate the president in part of the Jeffrey Epstein files without evidence.

Musk launched his scathing criticism against the government following Senate approval of Trump's 'big beautiful bill' that outlines temporarily cutting taxes by slashing Medicaid and food stamp programs such as SNAP.

He slammed the legislation as an 'abomination' and condemned those who voted in favor of it, writing at the time: "I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.

"Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.

"It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden America citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt."

He also accused Congress of 'making America bankrupt' and said in November next year 'we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.'

Meanwhile, Musk was also quizzed over allegedly taking drugs while working in the White House as a 'voluntary government adviser' which he vehemently denied, even going so far as to post the results of a drugs test.
