President Donald Trump has spoken about the results of his first physical examination of his second term, which included a cognitive assessment.

For years, the 78-year-old Republican berated his predecessor, 46th US President Joe Biden, calling him 'Sleepy Joe' during his 2019 presidental campaign, and often making jokes about his age, USA Today reported.

Biden was 78 years old when he moved into the White House, and by the time his term was up, he was 82 years old.

However, Trump was the oldest presidential candidate to be sworn in as president in US history, and will be 156 days older at the end of his four years than Biden was at the end of his term.

As is customary with the position, the sitting president undergoes an annual physical health examination, with President Trump having recently taken his on Friday (April 11).

According to Sky News, the examination took place at Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre in Washington, DC, and lasted for five hours, as Trump says he underwent 'every test you can imagine'.

“I was there for a long time,” he continued. “I think I did very well.”

Trump also spoke to reporters from the presidential plane, Air Force One, and boasted about how well he'd performed on his cognitive assessment.

“I don’t know what to tell you other than I got every answer right,” he said (via NBC News).

He further explained that the decision to incorporate it into his calendar was because he 'wanted to be a little different' than his predecessor, as Trump continued: "I think it’s a pretty well-known test. Whatever it is, I got every one - I got it all right."

The POTUS added: "Overall, I felt I was in very good shape. A good heart, a good soul — a very good soul."

It is hoped that the doctor's report will be released at some point today, with the businessman estimating he'd received his report on Sunday.

AP reports that White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said a 'readout from the White House physician' would be released 'as soon as we possibly can'.

It comes as social media users questioned Trump's health last month after an image of his hand began circulating online.

Earlier this year, when the POTUS sat down with French president, Emmanuel Macron, on the third anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, images from the meeting were shared online.

Not long after the press conference, people began discussing a mark on Trump's right hand, which some likened to a dark bruise.

However, White House secretary Karoline Leavitt said: "President Trump is a man of the people and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other president in history.

"His commitment is unwavering, and he proves that every single day."

"President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day," Leavitt added in a follow-up statement.
