People praise police department for genius recruitment ad

Fort Worth Police Department in Texas can surely now expect an influx of new officers

A police department has been heaped with praise for its unorthodox recruitment drive.

Fort Worth Police Department in Texas, USA, is looking for new cops to join the force, and what better way to get the word out than with a viral video starring Officer Big B?

In the video shared across social media, the cowboy hat clad cop brilliantly parodies a car salesman, running prospective applicants through the range of vehicles they'd have at their disposal with the department.

Watch here:

Along with the run-of-the-mill patrol vehicles, Officer Big B shows off the force's armoured vehicles, the choppers from the motor unit, bicycles for the eco-minded officers and some big old horses from the mountain unit.

And just when you think you've seen it all, the camera pans out to reveal an orange Lamborghini with Fort Worth Police livery, complete with the blues and twos (though you have to think this vehicle surely doesn't actually belong to the department).

It's certainly a memorable recruitment ad.

To cap it all off, the real star of the advert emerges in the dying embers to the right of the screen. He can be seen flailing his arms about and slumping up and down - presumably imitating one of those inflatable men you sometimes see at car dealerships.

The video has amassed hundreds of thousands of views across social media, and the department has been praised for its humorous bid to get new staff on board.

One person commented: "This is absolutely, hands down, the most creative, fun, and outrageously funny recruitment video I have ever seen."

Another said: "As a retired cop, this has to be the best recruitment video ever. Great job Ft. Worth PD."

A third wrote: "Ohhhh this is greatness! The dude at the end dancing as air inflatable had me cracking up! Good luck recruiting FWPD."

The bloke to the right came along and stole the show.

If you want to join this banterous force, you have until 31 October to apply.

The job posting for the police trainee role reads: "The City of Fort Worth is the 13th largest city in the US and the fastest growing among large cities.

"Fort Worth has received multiple accolades, including number one Downtown (Livability), and the second-best City in the nation for Job Seekers (Forbes).

"Our employees serve the needs of over 900,000 residents.

"We are seeking individuals that reflect our values of exceptional customer experience, mutual respect, embracing our diversity, continuous improvement, ethical behaviour, and accountability."

There's a fair few requirements though, so you'll need to see if you fit the bill to join Officer Big B and co here.
