Limited edition Stanley cups are being sold for an eye-watering amount online after people raced to stores to nab one.

As if seeing people queueing up outside a Target store since 3am and then 'getting trampled' trying to get their hands on a Stanley cup wasn't enough already, now the limited edition cups are being sold for almost 10 times the price online.

Apparently the cost-of-living crisis isn't a thing for some people:

It didn't take long for Stanley cups to become a viral trend after a TikToker shared a video of her cup surviving a brutal car fire, the cup not only maintaining its shape but also keeping the ice fresh inside.

So in love have people become with the product, when news of its limited-edition Valentine's cup arose, some didn't just walk, but ran to their local Target to get one (or more).

Videos posted to TikTok showed hoards rushing to the stand and even 'getting trampled' in the process for the '40 Oz stainless steel H2.0 Flowstate Quencher Tumbler' being sold for $45 at the store.

Fear not if you missed out on nabbing one, because some people are reselling their cups online, however, once you see the price you might quickly get over the hype.

The limited edition colors come in pink and red.
Target

Instead of being sold for the retail price of $45 or slightly more, given the item is limited edition for Valentines, people are pushing the price way further on sites such as eBay and Poshmark.

One listing on eBay shows a 'Stanley Pink Valentines Day Heart 40 Target Tumbler Limited Edition Cosmo Pink' being sold for a staggering $400.

A slightly better deal sees a set of five of the cups, including both pink and red versions, being sold for $840 - however, let's just say it's not how I'd want to be spending nearly $1,000 if I had it.

eBay

Over on Poshmark, the Valentine's cups are being sold for around the $250-300 mark - although, that's on sale, one even cut down from a cry-worthy $699.

Another limited version of the cup - the Starbucks one - is also being resold online, a few advertised at a jaw-dropping $999, but marked down in a sale to $292 - how generous.

So, what's it going to be? Rushing to your nearest Target to potentially get into a brawl with other Stanley fans to bag a limited edition cup or coughing up all your savings to get a second-hand one online?

Or, wild suggestion here, maybe just resolve to buying a non-limited edition version.

It's still a fairly expensive $45 for a cup, although, to give the cup its dues, it did survive a full-blown fire.

That's got to be worth something!
