Man helps Twitch streamer to safety after he spots her being followed

Twitch streamer Mhyochi filmed as one of her viewers came to her assistance.

A man stepped in to help a Twitch streamer who was being followed. Take a look what happened when he intervened:

The South Korean Twitch streamer, who is known online as Mhyochi, was live-streaming in Khar, Mumbai on Tuesday night.

Mhyochi, whose real name is Hyojeong Park, was harassed and followed by two men as she walked the streets.

A man grabbed her arm and pulled her toward a motorbike he was riding with a friend.

One of Mhyochi’s viewers left his home to assist her and make sure she was safe.

Myochi thanks the unnamed man for his help as he walks with her across the road.

Twitter

“It was good you were on live and someone was watching it.”

Later Mhyochi took to Twitter to discuss the situation.

“I tried my best not to escalate the situation and leave because he was with his friend.

“And some people said that it was initiated by me being too friendly and engaging the conversation.”

The video was shared on Reddit where it shocked viewers.

One woman commented: “Wild that they got arrested! As a girl, this is something you experience from time to time, and you learn to just put up with it. You smile, you act polite and try to diffuse the situation in the hopes that they’ll leave you alone with their dignity intact, so you won’t become a target. Afterwards you feel relieved, but then you hate yourself for being nice to them. It sucks.”

Mhyochi was relieved when the man came to help.

Another commenter shared: “That man is a hero!!! Glad someone protected her! Also glad 2 of the others harassing her were arrested.”

People are also upset about the incident on Twitter, with one person writing: "Being friendly is not an invitation for harassment. It a matter of shame this happened to you. I'm sorry you had to experience this. We are better than this. Hope you make better and happier memories.."

One person who saw the stream said: "This is so scary and disgusting. My stomach dropped every time he touched you."

According to Indian news company NDTV, two men have been arrested in relation to the incident.

Mumbai Police released a statement on Twitter which read: “Mumbai Police’s Khar Police station has taken a Suo Moto action in an incident that happened with a Korean woman (foreigner) in the jurisdiction of Khar West.

“In this regard, both the accused have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC.”
