A young influencer has died during a fitness camp after she embarked on losing hundreds of pounds as fast as possible.

Insider reports 21-year-old Cuihua was at a 'stay-in weight loss camp in Shaanxi, China' when she passed away.

Her family has confirmed her tragic death in a statement on social media.

"Thank you to everyone for your support and love for Cuihua," they said in a message translated from Chinese via Insider.

"Our child has gone to heaven, and we are still processing all of this.

"We hope that people won't be misguided by malicious individuals for their entertainment, which could harm parents and family.

"Let our child rest in peace, thank you!"

They didn't place blame on the fitness camp that their child was in.

“It didn’t happen at the Hornets [training camp], please don’t cyber bully any more training camps, it’s over, we don’t want to be sad,” they wrote on her Douyin page, which is the Chinese version of TikTok.

The cause of her death has not yet been revealed.

However, her parents reported in their Douyin statement that their child went to hospital because she felt unwell after exercising.

Cuihua's social media account documented her mission to drop 200lbs from her weight, according to news.com.au.

She would livestream her workouts, some of which would be in the morning and evening, to her nearly 10,000 followers as well as her strict diet.

Dexerto says her daily meals would consist of 'coarse grains, cabbage, eggs, and fruit'.

The young woman managed to lose 80 pounds (36kg) in eight months, according to The New York Post.

She dropped 57 pounds in the first two months, and then the 23lbs was shed over the next six months.

Some of the people who followed the influencer's weight loss journey were shocked to hear the news that she had died.

They would also comment on her videos while she was at the camps trying to encourage her not to get ahead of herself.

One fan said (via News Corp): “You should take it slowly to keep your heart rate within the aerobic safety range. It can’t be high-intensity all at once, the heart and knees can’t stand it, and it is easy to die suddenly.”

Another added: “These coaches really don’t have any comprehensive knowledge, and they think they are all sports school trainees.”
