A new study has shed light on how long people should be having sex on average, and a doctor has added a warning for those who may be a little under the time range.
When it comes to sex, many people want a brilliantly erotic and mind-blowing affair, but unfortunately, that isn’t always the case.
For some, one of the biggest issues is how long the man lasts during the affair, as people don’t want it over in 30 seconds, but also don’t want to be going for 3 hours.
While there can be many factors that impact how long until a man climaxes, one lesser-known factor can be their age.

According to a Lovehoney study from this year, for men aged 18 to 24, they should last just over 16 minutes on average.
For the 25 to 34 mark, the time limit goes up slightly to roughly 18.3 minutes

From 35 to 45, things take a bit of a dip, however, dropping to 17.4 minutes on average.
It continues to fall even further from there, on average, for the age group 45 to 54, with the knocking of boots lasting on average just under 15 minutes, at 14.1 minutes.
For 55-64, the average time falls to 11.3 minutes, and for the over 65s, things last just over 5 minutes at 8.15 minutes.
As you can imagine, some people may feel wary if they are under or over these averages for their age group.
Lovehoney’s sexual sexual health nurse, Sarah Mulindwa, has commented on the findings previously and said it was important to note that there was no single correct number for how long sex should last for and it was more important to focus on the happiness of both people involved.
She said: “What matters most at any age is communication, technique, and pleasure – not the stopwatch."

A doctor has issued a similar sentiment for those who may be prematurely ejaculating, ultimately making their affairs considerably shorter than the general averages.
Writing a report for a healthy male, Dr Michael Lowy said: “Usually, ejaculation less than one to one and a half minutes after penetration is regarded as premature ejaculation. But if this causes no distress to either partner, no treatment is necessarily required.
“The presence of distress in association with quick ejaculation often indicates the need for treatment.”
They added that there can be some treatments that doctors can prescribe for those who want to extend how long it takes for them to ejaculate.
Dr Lowy stated: “There are a few treatments including behavioral exercises, use of condoms and anesthetic spray, as well as anti-depressant medication.”
