Men have long claimed that drinking or eating certain things can change the taste or quality of semen, but then again, they would say that wouldn't they?
The actual science of how diet can affect the properties of sexual fluid is more complicated than simply gobbling a carton of pineapple juice and, hopefully, getting someone else to be your sommelier, a doctor has revealed.
But while 'don't get high on your own supply' probably applies here, it should be said that there is nothing actually wrong with a chef tasting their own sauce. It can even give some insight on what they are serving up to customers.
Because frequently, a person's diet and lifestyle will be reflected in their semen, which is often described as having a bitter taste that is somewhere between salty brine and licking a car battery.

Sexual health expert Doctor Mark Perera explained for LADbible's Honesty Box to what extent pineapple can actually change this often displeasing taste, a question he is often asked.
'The answer is yes, but it's marginal," the doctor said. "So pineapple is obviously a sweet fruit and it can add an element of sweetness to semen."
However, the science behind changing the flavor of your own supply is relatively complex. Semen is made up of about 80 percent water and only one percent sperm, with the rest being a combination of sugars, vitamins and minerals that help them on their way to the egg.
This heady mix of sperm and seminal rocket fuel is also quite alkaline, typically with a pH over seven, to protect them from the vagina's natural acidity. But this also gives it a bitter and unpleasant taste.
So part of the reason that pineapple and other acidic fruits can alter the taste of your baby batter is that it reduces this alkalinity, but before you start eating a pound of pineapples, there is one far easier thing you can do to improve its flavor.

With four fifths of semen being made of water, drinking more fluids in general will naturally improve the quality, quantity, and improve the taste of your gentleman's relish.
Avoiding common vices will also help, with Dr Perera explaining: "Things that are not so good are smoking and alcohol, because they can cause dehydration and effect the chemistry within the semen."
Though, he did not want to argue against the benefits of consuming pineapple, adding: "So yes, but it's a smaller effect than you think."
For those people who are not fans of pineapple, there are plenty of other options to improve their own flavor. Urologist Nelson Bennett, MD, told Men's Health that 'cranberries help balance the pH levels in semen, making for a better taste.'
You can practically change your whole diet if you are obsessed with changing your own supply, according to the doctor's recommendations. He added: "Naturally sugary fruits like kiwi fruits, blueberries and stone fruit (plums, peaches, dates, nectarines) also improve your taste."
Going further, he pointed out that celery's vitamin C can reduce semen's salty taste. Even your choice of flavorings can change it, with Bennet explaining: "Cinnamon, wheatgrass, peppermint, spearmint and parsley all sweeten the taste of your semen."
