Urgent recall for almost 2,000,000 of popular cooking item after fears it's giving customers third degree burns

There've been over 100 reports of burn injuries from using the popular kitchen item

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has revealed the recall of 1.8 million pressure cookers after 'serious burn injuries' were reported.

On May 1, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled the SharkNinja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers.

It reports around 1,846,400 of the products have been sold in the US alongside 'about 184,240' in Canada - the product sold at Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, Amazon and Target, as well as online from January 2019 to March 2025.

SharkNinja has reportedly received '106 reports of burn injuries, including more than 50 reports of second- or third-degree burns to the face or body, with 26 lawsuits filed'.

What you should know about the Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cooker recall

The report states: "This recall involves all Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers. The cookers have functions that include pressure cooking and air frying.

"They were sold in black and have a 6.5-quart capacity.

"'Ninja' is printed on the front of each unit and on the product label.

"Model numbers OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HCN, OP302HAQ, OP302HW, OP302HB, OP305, OP305CO and OP350CO are included in this recall and are printed on a label on the side of the cooker.

"An additional code following the model number is not part of that model designation. For example, a unit labeled “OP301 I07” is a model OP301 unit. Any OP300 series replacement pressure cooker lids purchased as an additional part are also included in this recall."

Thankfully, if you've purchased the item, you can 'continue to use' part of it, however, there's one element you should 'immediately stop using'.

What should you do with your Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cooker now?

Anyone with the item is advised to 'immediately stop using the product’s pressure-cooking function and contact SharkNinja for a free replacement lid'.

Why? Well, it's been found the pressure-cooking lid 'can be opened during use' which causes 'hot contents to escape, posing a risk of burn injuries to consumers'.

"Consumers can continue to use the product’s air frying and other functions," the advice continues.

And SharkNinja has since addressed the mass recall too.

What has SharkNinja said?

A spokesperson for the company told UNILAD: "The safety of our customers is a top priority for SharkNinja. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, Ninja is conducting a recall to replace the lid on certain Ninja-brand ‘Foodi’ multi-function cookers in the OP300 model family.

"This addresses reports that some consumers have been able to open the pressure-cooking lids of certain units of these cookers during use, resulting in burn injuries from hot contents. More information is available at ninjakitchen.com or at CPSC.gov."

UNILAD has contacted SharkNinja for further comment.
