Police release disturbing new details after remains believed to be dad accused of killing three daughters found

Authorities came across US Ranger shorts, chewing tobacco and a bracelet at the scene

More details have come to light regarding the possible remains of suspected child killer Travis Decker.

The 32-year-old is believed to have murdered his three daughters near Washington's Rock Island Campground back in June; their heads covered with plastic bags and wrists zip-tied according to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office.

Although DNA testing is yet to prove conclusive, it's now reported that Decker's own corpse has been discovered.

In an interview with FOX 13 Seattle this week, local sheriff Mike Morrison revealed all on how the discovery was made and which other items were present at the scene.

The remains were located 'about 0.74 miles away from the initial crime scene', where Decker's alleged killings were committed.

A drone carrying out a planned search of the Leavenworth area encountered an 'anomaly', which was later confirmed to be a shirt matching what Decker is thought to have worn.

Authorities also went on to find US Ranger shorts, chewing tobacco, and a bracelet at the scene, with the deceased believed to have been dead for a while.

The Chelan County Sheriff's Office said it had been in contact with the Decker family and is 'providing them with support and updates as the investigation proceeds'.

The attorney of Decker's ex-wife and mother of his three girls, Arianna Cozart, commented: "We are praying that the remains found are confirmed to be Travis's. We continue to be grateful for law enforcement's efforts in this case and are forever appreciative of the entire world's love, compassion, and support for Whitney."

The father-of-three was wanted for three counts of first-degree murder and as many counts of first-degree kidnapping.

Paityn (aged 9), Evelyn (8) and Olivia (5) had left their home for a planned visitation with Decker on May 30, but they never returned.

It took just three days for their bodies to be found.

A formal search at Rock Island Campground was carried out around the time the girls were discovered, and the FBI conducted another 48-hour search shortly afterwards.

"A search of this magnitude and detail has not previously taken place in this area," the FBI said in a statement issued at the end of last month.

"We not only accomplished our goal of covering the entire area intended for this operation, but we also searched beyond the primary search perimeter. The electronic mapping of this search effort is being provided to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office and our federal partners."
