The Los Angeles medical examiner has confirmed new details about the identity of the decomposing body found inside the trunk of an abandoned Tesla.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) were alerted to a foul smell coming from a black Tesla at an impound lot in Hollywood on Monday (September 8).

It is believed that the car had been on the lot for a couple of days and when officers checked out the Tesla's front trunk they discovered a body that had been placed inside a plastic bag.

While the victim remains unknown, it has been reported that the vehicle at the center of the investigation is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to David Anthony Burke, best known as the singer d4vd. Some of his best known songs include ‘Romantic Homicide’ and ‘Here With Me’. Both the tracks have more than a billion streams on Spotify, where the singer has over 33 million monthly listeners.

The singer, however, has not been named as a person of interest.

In a statement to LADbible Group, the LAPD said: "On 9/8/25 around 12:20 pm, officers responded to the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue for a foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard.

"Detectives responded and located possible human remains. It is currently a death investigation. We do not have information on the owner of the vehicle."

On Wednesday, new details were revealed about the victim. The remains belong to a woman who was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings; however her identity has yet to be confirmed.

She had a tattoo on her right index finger which spelled ‘shhh’.

The medical examiner said: “The decedent was found severely decomposed inside a vehicle on 9/8/2025.

“She appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found. We are unable to determine her age or race/ethnicity. The decedent was wearing a tube top and black leggings (size small).

“She has wavy black hair. Jewelry includes yellow metal stud earring and w yellow metal chain bracelet.”

A representative for singer d4vd, who is currently on tour across the US and with dates planned for Europe next month, shared a statement with NBC News which he said he ‘has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities’.
