Taylor Hawkins' teenage son plays with the Foo Fighters during special performance

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Taylor Hawkins' son has joined the Foo Fighters onstage in Boston.

Shane, 17, came on stage with the rock band at Boston Calling Music Festival and of course he played the drums.

He rocked out with his late dad's group for the song 'I’ll Stick Around'.

"Excited to see queens today, thanks for last night #foofighters so much f**kin fun. Thanks for the hang and the flicks," he wrote on Instagram following the performance.

It's clear the apple doesn't fall far from the tree as fans absolutely loved him rocking out to thousands of people.

One person wrote: "Looking forward to Shane slowly taking up more spots on the live roster as he gets older, hell yeah."

Another said: "ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Shane ...you Rock babe ..just like yuh daddy xx bless you, sweetheart."

While a third shared: "Get it Shane!!!! Beat that kit into submission!!!"

The Foo Fighters have only just returned to touring after the death of Hawkins.

They kicked off their first performance on May 24 and frontman Dave Grohl dedicated 'Cold Day in the Sun' to the late drummer.

Taylor passed away at the age of 50 last year in March after suffering a cardiac arrest while on tour with the Foo Fighters.

It was later revealed that the musician, who was inducted into the Roll 'n' Rock Hall of Fame in 2021, had 10 substances in his body at the time, including THC, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids, as per the Sydney Morning Herald.

Paying tribute to Taylor, the group said: "The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever.

"Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time."

Foo Fighters were currently on tour in South America when they discovered their longtime band mate had died.

They were due to headline Festival Estereo Picnic in Bogotá, Colombia, on March 25 and set to perform at Lollapalooza Brazil the following day.

After the news broke, many fellow musicians posted tributes honoring the late artist.

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker said in an emotional Instagram post: “I don’t have the words. Sad to write this or to never see you again. I’ll never forget Laguna Beach days when I was a trash man playing in a punk rock band and you were playing with Alanis. You’d come watch me play in dive bars and be like, ‘kid you’re a star’.”

Ozzy Osbourne penned: " @TaylorHawkins was truly a great person and an amazing musician. My heart, my love and my condolences go out to his wife, his children, his family, his band and his fans. See you on the other side - Ozzy."
