A man in Texas bought a guitar said to be signed by Taylor Swift herself, but he was definitely not a Swiftie.

How do I know that? Well, it was proven by just how swift he was to destroy it with a hammer.

Warning: this article contains content that might upset hardcore Taylor Swift fans. Especially those who would do anything to get their hands on one of the instruments the artist has used to create her much-loved songs.

The attack against the guitar took place at an event known as the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner in Waxahachie, Texas, on Saturday (September 28).

On its website, the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner describes itself as an organization committed to 'supporting agricultural and rural education to the youth of Ellis County', which it does by offering 'scholarships, animal and ag mechanics project grants, and purchasing projects at Elllis County Youth Expo'.

"We will do everything within our power to help youth that are willing to work to better themselves, and give them the resources they need to reward themselves," the site says.

As part of their mission to help youth, the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner held an auction which included, per its Facebook page, a 'guitar autographed by country music star Taylor Swift'.

The guitar was donated by a group called 'WGB Sponsors', and an image on the Facebook page featured a plain brown guitar.

The guitar actually featured in a video from the auction was much more Swift-centric, however, as it was decorated with images from Swift's recent Eras Tour.

When it came time for the guitar to be auctioned off, it caught the attention of one man who began bidding.

According to the person who shared the video on TikTok, the man offered up $3,200 to become the guitar's new owner.

It's a purchase a lot of Swifties would die for, but the man clearly wasn't interested in displaying the guitar in his home.

Instead, it was presented to him alongside a hammer, which he took and began ploughing into the wood of the instrument.

The footage has been spread far and wide since it was first filmed in Texas, with some viewers suggesting the man's reactions may be politically motivated following Swift's recent endorsement of Kamala Harris.

Whatever his inspiration, the man has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some suggesting it was 'money well spent'.

However, others argued the man wasted his money, or that it could have been spent in better ways.

"It doesn’t affect Taylor Swift and he just lost $4,000," one user wrote on Twitter. Another added: "Imagine spending $4k on a guitar when there’s literally an emergency situation on the east coast. That $4K could have help a lot of other people instead of some collector."
