This is why Justin Bieber didn't perform at Super Bowl even after Usher personally asked him to

Beliebers flocked to social media in disappointment after Justin didn't join Usher on stage.

A source has revealed why Justin Bieber turned down Usher's request to perform at the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show.

With Usher's iconic Super Bowl halftime show having been branded 'one of the best ever,' viewers have been left confused why Justin Bieber didn't join the musician up on stage, despite having allegedly been personally asked for by the 'OMG' singer.

Instead, Bieber was spotted sat alongside wife Hailey in the audience watching the game and performances from afar and sources have since addressed why.

Usher took to the stage at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday (11 February) midway through the Kansas City Chiefs game against the San Francisco 49ers.

While the 45-year-old was joined by the likes of Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R, Lil John and Ludacris, there was one person viewers were disappointed not to see hop on up to the platform - Justin Bieber.

Usher featured on Bieber's 2010 release 'Somebody to Love' and Beliebers had hoped the Super Bowl 2024 would be the perfect opportunity for the pair to reunite.

One X user wrote: "Missed opportunity for Justin Bieber to come out."

"WHERE IS JUSTIN BIEBER?" another added.

But why didn't the 'Beauty and a Beat' singer join Usher, particularly when TMZ reported the 'My Boo' singer had allegedly reached out to Bieber to ask him to?

Well, sources in the music industry told Page Six Usher tried really hard to persuade the 'Baby' singer.

However, ultimately, Bieber turned down the request, the source claiming it wasn't a result of any 'bad blood' between the performers.

They said: "Justin just wasn’t up for it - he just wasn’t feeling it."

Bieber has drawn back from live performances before, cancelling all remaining dates across Europe, Australia, and the US of his Justice world tour in early 2023.

The singer's stepping back from live performances and touring followed the news of him having been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

The condition 'occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears,' the Mayo Clinic explains.

It adds: "In addition to the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear."

In June he updated fans on his recovery, taking to Instagram to reaffirm his faith noting 'each day has gotten better and through all of the discomfort [he has] found comfort in the one who designed [him] and knows [him]'.

UNILAD has contacted Justin Bieber's representatives for comment.
