There's a song that's been branded the 'most popular wedding song of all time' for appearing most frequently on Spotify wedding playlists.

There comes a time in all of our lives where we go from using up our holiday requests on festivals and hungover days to taking time off for every Tom, Dick and Harry's stag do, hen do and wedding, paying an arm and a leg to travel around, and see everyone say 'I do'.

Some of the things which makes the rapidly depleting holiday days and emptying of your wallet worth it? An easy location to travel to, great food, free-flowing booze, and the tunes, of course.

And apparently, there's one particular 80s hit which reigns superior above them all as a top choice at weddings.

While a bit of Ed Sheeran or Beyoncé may rear its head at a lot of parties post-nuptials, the one hit which has since been dubbed 'the most popular wedding song of all time' is from none other than the Queen of Pop.

And no, while Madonna has landed the title, I'm not sure 'Material Girl' would be the most appropriate wedding day song. Although, perhaps 'Like a Virgin' would be - depending on the circumstances, that is.

Anyway, online wedding-venue-focused search tool Breezit conducted a new study to find out for sure, analyzing 2,000 wedding-themed playlists on Spotify to figure out which tune crops up the most, as per Brides.

And out of around 50,000 songs, there was one clear winner.

Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody' appeared across various playlists a whopping 484 times.

And out of all the wedding-related playlists looked at within the study, it cropped up in a total of 24.2 percent.

Other songs to hit multiple playlists included The Killers' 'Mr. Brightside', showing up on 18.8 percent of lists, as well as Earth, Wind, & Fire's 'September' (18.45 percent) and Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling' (17.95 percent).

And Queen Bey did make it on the list with 'Crazy in Love', and who doesn't love a bit of Bruno Mars' 'Marry You', too?

Co-founder and CEO of Breezit Arturas Asakavicius reflected: "Music plays an incredibly important role in wedding celebrations, and it’s fascinating to see which songs are still hailed as wedding classics, even years after their initial release.

"Wedding playlists can help create lasting memories, capturing both the joy of the dance floor and the romance of walking down the aisle. Certain songs have become intertwined with the celebration of a wedding, which is why some have become timeless classics for many couples’ big day."
