Cardi B is no longer facing a criminal investigation as the battery case filed against her has been dropped.

During a recent Las Vegas performance, the Grammy Award-winning rapper had a member of the audience throw their drink at her while she was performing her hit ‘Bodak Yellow’.

According to videos seen by PEOPLE, prior to performing, Cardi had told the crowd to cool her down as the city was dealing with scorching temperatures that day.

Videos of the incident have been widely circulating around the internet, with one video captured by Eric Remy garnering over 400,000 views.

The following day after the incident, Las Vas Metro Police confirmed to Variety that the fan who had ben hit by the device had reported the incident.

“According to the victim, she was attending an event on July 29, 2023, at a property located in the 3500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard," the police statement said.

So, someone obliged and chucked liquid in the rapper's direction.

But, in response to the tossed drink, Cardi threw her microphone straight back at the person who drenched her.

"During the concert, she was struck by an item that was thrown from the stage.”

However, after investigating the report, the police have decided to drop the case, meaning Cardi is no longer a suspect for battery.

Lawyers for the rapper, Drew Findling, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, told TMZ: “This afternoon we were notified by the Las Vegas Metropolitian Police Department, that as a result of their investigation, there will be no charges against Cardi.

“On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's diligent and prompt resolution of this matter.”

Cardi’s incident is not the only recent story about audience members throwing objects on stage and hitting celebrities.

In the past few months, Beba Rexha has been hit in the face with a phone while Harry Styles got hit in the eye.

Ava Max, Kelsea Ballerini and Drake have also recently had items from their audiences thrown at them too.

The influx of disrespect from the crowd has even received attention from Adele, with the British singer teaching her crowd about show etiquette.

“Stop throwing things at the artists,” she said.

Neither Cardi B or the woman who threw the drink appeared to be seriously injured.

As for the microphone, it’s currently on eBay as part of a charity auction, which at the time of writing is selling for $99,900.
