Zoe Saldaña becomes first actor in history to star in four films that have earned $2 billion

Zoe Saldaña has made box office history by becoming the first actor ever to appear in four movies that have grossed more than USD$2 billion worldwide at the box office.

When Avatar: The Way of Water hit the USD$2 billion (AUD$2.8 billion £1.6 billion) box office milestone, Hollywood starlet Zoe Saldaña received her own rare accomplishment that makes her a cut above the rest.

The 44-year-old actor starred in Avatar, which grossed USD$2.9 billion and Avatar: The Way of Water, which grossed USD$2 billion in the role of Neytiri.

She donned the green skin of Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War, earning a massive USD$2 billion (AUD$2.8 billion, £11.5 billion) and then Avengers: Endgame took home an impressive USD$2.7 billion (AUD$3.8 billion, £2.1 billion).

Now that's not small change, especially considering Avatar 2 is only the sixth film to reach the USD$2 billion mark at the global box office.

We'd go as far as saying that's bloody impressive.

While she's making a killing in the superhero trope, Saldaña has previously revealed that she feels 'stuck doing [the superhero] franchise', however she did add that the films are something she still feels 'very grateful for'.

Saldaña added that 'there was a time where it was so exciting' but instead it now is 'just a lot'.

But, despite her past comments about the ups and downs of superhero salaries, there is no doubt that Saldaña's achievement is epic.

And she is poised to smash even more records as the Avatar franchise is expected to continue.While it is still unknown if her character Neytiri will make it through the events of Avatar 3 alive, there is potential for another box office success to go for the trifecta, which means even more accolades denoting her foray into the five billion-dollar-earning Hollywood movies.

Other actors have come close - there's a long list - but only a lucky few ever made it close to Saldaña's earnings.

Several of her fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe stars have also made the top-grossing lists.

Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr, came in with earnings of USD$14.39 (AUD$10.0, £11.4 billion).

Next in line comes Samuel L. Jackson with earnings of USD$14.37 (AUD$20.5 billion, 11.5 billion).

Leading the list was Scarlett Johansson, with an eye watering bank account stuffed with a massive USD$14.5 billion (AUD$20.4, £11.5 billion) worth of cash.

But, even though her Marvel colleagues had already knocked it out of the park, Saldaña certainly came out on top.
