Excited about the recently announced Tomb Raider live-action series? Well, there's movies based on the popular gaming franchise you can tune into right now.
The Prime series is set to begin shooting in January 2026, with Amazon MGM Studios confirming recently that Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner will star as Lara Croft.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge will serve as creator, writer, and even an executive producer on the live-action series, while Jonathan van Tulleken has joined the team as director and executive producer, and Chad Hodge as executive producer and co-showrunner with Waller-Bridge.
Speaking of the highly-anticipated video game adaptation, Waller-Bridge said: "I’m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team.

"It’s not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving. Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out… Croft is coming…"
Meanwhile, Turner said: "I am thrilled beyond measure, to be playing Lara Croft. She’s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many – and I am giving everything I’ve got.
"They’re massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can’t wait for you all to see what we have cooking."

We have to wait a little while before the live-action series releases on Prime, however, but there are some older releases should you need that Tomb Raider fix.
2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider is the first option, with a young Angelina Jolie starring in the role of Lara Croft. Daniel Craig also features in the classic, meaning it is quite the star-studded lineup.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider is available through Hoopla, while can also be streamed on Prime. It's also available for buy/rent at a cost on AppleTV.

You've then got 2018's Tomb Raider, which unfortunately isn't available with a Netflix subscription, for example, but is available to buy/rent on the likes of AppleTV and Prime Video.
It's Alicia Vikander who starred as Lara Croft in the movie, which certainly received a mixed reception at the time having achieved a 52 percent Rotten Tomatoes score.
Nonetheless, the future of the Tomb Raider franchise certainly seems exciting.
"Lara Croft is one of the most recognizable and iconic video game characters of all time,” said Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios, of Prime's live-action series.
