Joseph Quinn Thought Stranger Things Had 'Made A Mistake' Giving Him The Role Of Eddie

The actor plays the misunderstood Eddie Munson

** SPOILER ALERT for Stranger Things season 4**

Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn has admitted he thought it was a ‘mistake’ when he found out he was cast as Eddie in the show’s fourth series.

The 29-year-old actor plays misunderstood Eddie Munson, who is wrongly blamed for the murder of Chrissy Cunningham and subsequently all of Vecna's killings.

However, the leader of the Hellfire Club soon became a fan favourite as he worked with Steve Harrington and Dustin Henderson to stop Vecna.

Although viewers love Eddie, Joseph admitted in a new interview that he didn't think he deserved the part when he was cast in the Netflix series after only two self-taped auditions.

"I was waiting for the Duffer brothers to realise they’d made a mistake," he told The Guardian.

"No meetings, no chemistry reads, no protracted process. It was pretty unusual and very disarming. It meant I was waiting for the Duffer brothers to realise they’d made a mistake."

As for the preparation he put in for the role, Joseph explained: "I tried grappling with Dungeons & Dragons, but accepted that wasn’t going to happen.

"Music was my main way in. I listened to a lot of heavy metal, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Dio, and I worked with a brilliant vocal coach called Mary Howland. But 99.7 percent of the work is that wig."

In the final episode of the second part of season four, viewers watched Hawkins' Hellfire Club head into the Upside Down to take on Vecna.

And one standout moment for fans was watching character Eddie play guitar in the alternate universe, all while facing down hellish bats with his life in serious danger.

Eddie's scene in the finale of Stranger Things has won fans over.

The dramatic scene combined with the 80s hit 'Master of Puppets' by Metallica has won fans over already, with some even saying it could get the same status as Kate Bush's 'Running Up That Hill' in the first part of season four.

One fan tweeted: "How powerful was this scene, where eddie sounded and dedicated master of puppets of metallica to chrissy?"

Another added: "This scene made my year, When he picked up the guitar i thought it would be great if he start playing it and they did it. Eddie playing Master of Puppets will become one of the most iconic scenes in television of this year, easily."

However, Eddie's epic guitar playing skills didn't help him get out of the Upside Down alive, instead falling victim to Vecna's powers in a bid to save Hawkins.

The latest series of the Netflix hit has now set an all-time streaming record, with fans racking up billions of minutes of watch-time since season four hit the streaming platform.

The hit programme had a whopping 7.2 billion minutes of viewing time from between 30 May and 5 June, according to figures from Nielsen.

The rankings also showed that from 23 May to 29 May, Stranger Things had 5.14 billion minutes viewing, bringing the two-week total to 12.34 billion minutes.
