Ryan Reynolds sends warning to Hugh Jackman after he begged Oscars not to nominate him

We really hope he's joking

Ryan Reynolds has sent a warning to Hugh Jackman after the actor begged the Academy not to nominate him.

The Hollywood star's Christmas movie Spirited is shortlisted in the Best Original song category for 'Good Morning'.

And Reynolds sent a message to Jackman following his efforts to stop it from winning:

In his video earlier this week, the X-Men actor urged the Academy to think again and not allow Reynolds to pick up the coveted gong later this year.

He said: "I loved Spirited. It's a great movie, the entire family watched it and had a blast.

"I love Will [Ferrell], I love Octavia [Spencer]… and the song 'Good Afternoon',' I laughed the entire way through. It is absolutely brilliant."

Shifting tone, he added: "But please, from the bottom of my heart, do not validate Ryan Reynolds [with an Oscar nomination]."

He added: "Ryan Reynolds getting a nomination in the best song category would make the next year of my life insufferable.

"I have to spend a year with him shooting Wolverine and Deadpool. Trust me, it would be impossible. It would be a problem."

As you can imagine, Reynolds wasn't best pleased with this, though he claimed he wasn't going to 'stoop to that level'.

Instead, he praised Jackman for his performance in his drama The Son.

The 46-year-old said: "Hey everyone, you know last week, Hugh Jackman lovingly asked the Academy to not vote for our song, 'Good Afternoon', in the Best Song category.

"And well, I'm not going to stoop to that level, I'm going to rise the rise to the occasion and rise above it all, and I'm going to say right now that I loved his performance in The Son. There's zero sarcasm here. No Wink, wink nudge, nudge.

"But his performance as a son struggling with his relationship with his dad and his father, it's literally one of the best of his entire career, and his career is very impressive already.

"So he's already nominated for a Golden Globe. So I humbly submit you for your consideration. Okay."

But Reynolds being the kind of guy he is, things are never quite as they seem.

Rather than end the video there, the camera suddenly goes black while the sound continues to record.

And the Two Guys and a Girl actor had a clear warning for his 'friend'.

Referencing their upcoming Marvel film, he said: "Wolverine and Deadpool. Is he kidding? Not in your life, chappie."

Let's just hope he really is joking.
