Hugh Jackman has finally explained how Wolverine will be alive in Deadpool 3 despite dying at the end of Logan.

Ever since Ryan Reynolds revealed the Aussie actor would reprise his role of the iconic X-Men mutant, fans have been asking how he would come back after being killed off spectacularly in the 2017 flick.

But never fear. During an interview with SiriusXM, Jackman shared that Deadpool's emergence into the MCU wouldn’t affect Logan’s timeline at all.

"It’s all because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines," Jackman said.

"Now we can go back because, you know, it’s science. So, I don’t have to screw with the Logan timeline, which was important to me. And I think probably to the fans too."

In September, Reynolds also disclosed that Logan takes place in 2029 and Deadpool 3 wouldn’t be 'touching that'.

He said to viewers: "Logan takes place in 2029.

"Totally separate thing. Logan died in Logan. Not touching that."

However, just as Reynolds began explaining when exactly the film would be taking place, in a cruel twist of fate, Wham’s 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' is blasted over the top.

Well played, Ryan.

While very little is known about the threequel, Marvel boss Kevin Feige told Collider: "It's exciting for it to have begun... A very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life."

The President of Marvel Studios also told The Hollywood Reporter that Deadpool 3 would be a 'big swing' for the universe.

He added: "How do we elevate it in the way we’ve been able to with Civil War, and Infinity War and Ragnarok?

"It’s very fun to be in the world of the Ryan Reynolds show."

Bob's Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin have been drafted in to write the film after Reynolds and the Marvel bosses decided their pitch was the 'perfect fit' for Deadpool's entrance into the MCU.

And while a release date hasn’t been announced just yet, Feige confirmed with Collider that production would commence sometime in 2023.

He added: "It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor.

"We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun."
