Fans already can't get enough of Ray Liotta's 'perfect' posthumous cameo in Cocaine Bear trailer

"The irony is that HE was the cocaine bear in Goodfellas"

Fans already can't get enough of Ray Liotta's 'perfect' posthumous cameo in the trailer for a film we didn't know we needed.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, you will likely have seen talks of the wonderfully titled Cocaine Bear.

The upcoming movie tells the bizarre (and true) story of a bear in the US that consumed a buttload of cocaine back in 1985.

Obviously the unusual incident has been exaggerated somewhat, with the trailer showing the bear seemingly having the sesh of a lifetime before going on a bloodthirsty rampage. Take a look:

The official synopsis reads: "Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild dark comedy finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converging in a Georgia forest."

It goes on to say that this is where a '500-pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine', going on a 'fuelled rampage for more blow... and blood'.

Directed by Hunger Games' Elizabeth Banks, Cocaine Bear stars Keri Russell, Margo Martindale, Alden Ehrenreich, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kristofer Hivju, Kahyun Kim, Christian Convery and Brooklynn Prince.

But one star the fans are focused on is the late Ray Liotta, who appears in the film in one of his last roles before his sad passing in May.

The fact that his last hurrah involves a drug runner's mishap and a drug-fuelled bear is nothing short of legendary, and people are going wild over his cameo.

Cocaine Bear looks like an absolute riot.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "Not much of a 'God Guy'. But when you learn that Ray Liotta's final, posthumous performance is in a movie called Cocaine Bear, and that this is his look in it?

"Well, it's hard not to believe there's some divine architecture glistening behind this pale drape we call reality."

Underneath the post, another user quipped: "The irony is that HE was the cocaine bear in Goodfellas."

A third commented: "Future cult movie and who better to have the final laugh than Ray himself... can't wait it looks ridiculously good."

Elsewhere on social media, another Liotta fan said: "Please dear god let Cocaine Bear be Ray Liotta’s last ever credited role. I want that to be his final legacy."

A second wrote: "I had no idea a bear on cocaine was missing from my life until I saw the trailer... and Ray Liotta... thank you for this one final gift... RIP you legend."

As for the story that the movie is based on, according to reports at the time, a 175-pound black bear ingested a whopping 30kg of the class-A before dying of an overdose.

Fans are loving the fact that this is one of Ray Liotta's final performances.

The bear had discovered a batch of the drug after it was dropped from a plane by Andrew Thornton, a convicted drug smuggler, and decided to tuck in.

Speaking about the movie, director Elizabeth Banks said: "All of my films so far, mostly, are about underdogs, and no matter who you are, if you meet a bear who is high on cocaine, you are the underdog in that situation.

"And that presents an opportunity just for a lot of comedy and delight."

Thankfully we don't have long to wait until Cocaine Bear drops. February 24, 2023 – get it in the diary, folks.
