One Of Hugh Jackman’s Worst Movies Was Nearly Netflix’s Most-Watched Film

Believe it or not, a film Hugh Jackman starred in didn't go down well with critics... at all

One of Hugh Jackman's worst-rated movies almost became Netflix's most-watched film.

Although it's almost impossible to imagine the Australian actor in a movie that isn't a solid 10/10, Jackman's role in a certain 2015 flick certainly didn't impress the critics.

The Wolverine star took on the role of Blackbeard in Pan, a film that acts as a prequel to the classic Peter Pan tale.

The synopsis for the film reads: "Living a bleak existence at a London orphanage, 12-year-old Peter (Levi Miller) finds himself whisked away to the fantastical world of Neverland. Adventure awaits as he meets new friend James Hook (Garrett Hedlund) and the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara).

"They must band together to save Neverland from the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman). Along the way, the rebellious and mischievous boy discovers his true destiny, becoming the hero forever known as Peter Pan."

While the movie sounds like it has potential, this sadly wasn't the case and it scored a very sorry rating of 26 percent on the infamous Tomatometer, making it potentially one of Jackman's worst-rated movies. Hard to believe, I know.

And to make matters even worse, according to ComicBook the film failed to make its money back when it was released in cinemas – making just over $128 million at the box office.

Pan is possibly one of Hugh Jackman's worst-rated movies.

But regardless of these many downfalls, it seems as if Netflix streamers have rekindled their love for Pan in more recent times.

It has been reported that earlier in the week, Pan made it into Netflix's infamous Top 10 Movies List, with it amazingly ranking at number 6.

Here's the list from Wednesday, 20 July, in full:

  1. Persuasion
  2. The Sea Beast
  3. Sing 2
  4. CHIPS
  5. 12 Strong
  6. Pan
  7. Girl in the Picture
  8. The Man From Toronto
  9. Mean Girls
  10. Barefoot

While Pan is no longer (and maybe unsurprisingly) on Netflix's list at the time of writing, the fact it made it on the list in the first place shows that it definitely has some fans out there in the world.

But speaking of one of Jackman's more successful flicks, the actor recently responded to calls for a Greatest Showman sequel.

At the 2022 Tony Awards nominees event held in New York earlier this year, Jackman told PEOPLE he is 'always open' to the idea of a sequel.

"Listen, if you know anything about my filmography, you'd know I'm totally against sequels in every shape or form. No more than nine films," he said.

"If they come up with a good idea. Yeah, I'm open!"
