Prime Video fans are binging ‘real and raw’ mini-series with 95% RT rating as creator returns with new drama

'Enough twists and turns to fill a barf bag'

Prime Video subscribers are still binge-watching a mini-series with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

We're always on the look-out for our next favorite TV series, but with so much choice, decision fatigue can leave us stuck.

But this 'raw and emotional' mini-series, which has won multiple Emmys, could be a strong contender for your new obsession.

It might've aired four years ago, but a resurgence is on the way as its creator has recently come out with a gripping new show.

And if you're a fan of crime dramas, then buckle up - you're in for a double whammy.

The original show in question initially aired on HBO but is available to stream through the subscription add-on via Amazon Prime Video.

From Brad Ingelsby, it stars Kate Winslet as Detective Marianne Sheehan, a once-heroic Philadelphian woman whose life starts to unravel.

Tasked with investigating the murder of a teenage mother while also handling the disappearance of another young girl, she must also grapple with personal struggles, including a divorce, a custody battle for her grandson, and the death of her son.

Its cast - Winslet, Julianne Nicholson, and Evan Peters - each won Emmys for their outstanding performances.

The show in question is, of course, Mare of Easttown.

It's racked up a near-perfect 95 percent score over on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it 'gruesome' and 'engrossing'.

They also love Winslet's 'raw' performance - as do viewers, who rated the show a similar 94 percent across more than 1,000 ratings.

Scoring the show 4.5 stars out of five on Monday (September 8), one recent viewer said: "Twist and enough turns to fill a barf bag! Great series."

A second recent viewer said: "Top 5 best HBO series for me. Raw, emotional, and perfectly acted murder mystery."

A third social media user weighed in: "Raw, real and layered. After the finale, I still can't stop thinking about it."

It comes as the creative mind behind the hit show - Inglesby - returns with a fresh crime drama called Task, streaming on HBO.

The first episode premiered on Sunday (September 7), with new episodes airing each Sunday until October 19.

In the UK, it airs from September 8 via Sky and NOW.

It shares some similarities with Mare of Easttown, but it isn't a spin-off.

Task is also set in a suburb of Philadelphia, but follows Robbie Pendergrast (Tom Pelphrey), a sanitation worker who turns to robbing drug dealers to support his family.

He juggles moral dilemmas and complex family dynamics, as Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo), a former priest turned FBI agent, leads a task force to put a stop his crime sprees.

Critics appear to have enjoyed the series, as their Rotten Tomatoes critics consensus reads: "Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelphrey are superb in Task, a culturally-specific crime story that's unrelentingly bleak but equally riveting."

Mare of Easttown is streaming now on HBO via Prime Video and NOW in the UK.
