Owen Wilson hints at doing a sequel for one of his most beloved films that fans have been begging for

Midnight in Paris? Wedding Crashers? Marley and Me? Wilson weighed in on them all

Owen Wilson has revealed there 'could be something there' in returning to one of his much-loved films.

Wilson has played some pretty iconic roles in his career so far including the likes of Hansel in Zoolander, Roy O’Bannon in Shanghai Noon and Monsieur Chuck in 2014's The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Now, Zoolander fans were already treated to a sequel, but what about some other of Wilson's reel of movies?

When I sat down with Wilson ahead of the release of his latest project - Apple TV+ series Stick - I couldn't help but ask about whether or not he's thought about returning to any of his previous work for a sequel.

And two particularly popular films came up - Wedding Crashers and Marley and Me.

Written by Steve Faber and Bob Fisher and directed by David Dobkin, Wedding Crashers sees Wilson star alongside Vince Vaughn (The Internship), Isla Fisher (Now You See Me), Christopher Walken (Severance) and Rachel McAdams (The Notebook).

Wilson and Vaughn play two divorce mediators who - you guessed it - crash weddings in a bid to get laid. And what you may not have realised is that the actors' improvised the iconic 'Lock it up!' banter.

The comedy was a hit, going on to become the sixth highest grossing movie in the US in 2005 and has been praised for helping revive the popularity of R-rated comedies.

One Twitter user said: "Wedding Crashers is one of the greatest movies ever filmed."

And another said: "Everybody calm down, there’s gonna be a Wedding Crashers sequel one day and it’s *obviously* gonna be about Vaughn and Wilson and Fisher and McAdams trying to stop young louts from crashing their own kids’ weddings. We just have to wait like a decade at most."

But can fans hope for more? Well, Wilson told UNILAD: "Yeah, I mean, we've always kind of talked about Wedding Crashers - that there could be something there.

"And I think we still sort of think maybe there's something there. So, who knows."

A non-committal, but hopeful answer - either way, we'll take it.

And that's not the only release the actor reflected on fondly when asked about returning for a sequel.

While most of us got through at least one box of tissues upon watching Marley and Me, Wilson had a 'great time' filming the tear-jerker.

He recalled: "Yeah, I had a great time doing Marley and Me with Jennifer Aniston. I really enjoyed that."

Whether or not this means he'd return to a sequel he didn't say, but here's hoping.

In the mean time, you can catch Wilson playing the role of ex-pro golfer Pryce Cahill in Apple TV+ series Stick.

Stick deals with themes of nostalgia and looking back on a different time - echoing another Wilson movie, Midnight in Paris.

When I asked if Wilson ever wishes he could go back to another time in history, his career or life, he said: "You mentioned Midnight in Paris. I love that city, and that was a nice time making it.

"And then you know the part [...] he's going back to - my character - to meet Fitzgerald and Hemingway. That would have been incredible. Yeah, I guess that would be my pick."

Stick is available to watch now with a subscription on Apple TV+.
