Morgan Freeman says 2023 movie is first time he’s been impressed with his own acting in years

Morgan Freeman says 2023 movie is first time he’s been impressed with his own acting in years

After saying he has no plans to retire, a text message shows how Morgan Freeman was impressed with his acting in A Good Person.

Morgan Freeman is one of the greatest actors of all time, though the 86-year-old has seemingly not been impressed with his acting in recent years.

Freeman initially struggled to make a breakthrough in Hollywood, though at 49 years of age he finally got his reward for all the hard work with the film Street Smart.

After landing the 1986 role, he quickly established himself as one of the most talented actors in the industry and even won an Oscar in 2005.

Having since appeared in blockbuster films like The Shawshank Redemption, Bruce Almighty, The Dark Knight Rises and Deep Impact, Freeman is thought to have amassed a $250 million fortune, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

And at the age of 85, Freeman's most recent rodeo came with the release of the drama-comedy A Good Person in March of this year.

Directed by Zach Braff, an official synopsis for A Good Person reads: "Allison is a young woman with a wonderful fiance, a blossoming career, and supportive family and friends. However, her world crumbles in the blink of an eye when she survives an unimaginable tragedy, emerging from recovery with an opioid addiction and unresolved grief.

"In the following years, she forms an unlikely friendship with her would-be father-in-law that gives her a fighting chance to put her life back together and move forward."

While liked by many, A Good Person received mix reviews after it released on box office, obtaining a 58 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. However, a 96 percent audience score softened the blow.

But while reviews may have been a mixed bag, Freeman is seemingly happy with his performance in the film.

In a Q&A centred all around A Good Person on Braff's Instagram account, the director was asked: "Are you satisfied with the response to the film?

Braff replied: "Yes. The 96 percent audience score makes me the happiest. I got this text from Morgan (Freeman) when he first saw it."

The text message Freeman sent read: "Saw it. Loved it. First time in years I've been impressed with my own acting."

It comes after Freeman confirmed earlier this year that he has no desire to stop acting and retire any time soon, despite his advancing years.

Despite many people he knows calling it a day, Freeman - now 86 - doesn't seem to have even thought about winding things up.

He told LADbible: “Well, if I can go pedal to the metal that’s what I’ll keep doing. This business has a way of slowing you down on its own, you don’t have to [do it yourself].

“You can - I have friends who have just thrown in the towel and said, ‘that’s it for me’, but I don’t see myself doing anyway in the near future.”
