Good Burger 2 director says there are plans for more sequels

Phil Traill teased there were ‘plans afoot’ for more movies, not just a threequel.

The director for Good Burger 2 has teased an entire franchise as the second film is underway.

While speaking to RadioTimes.com, Phil Traill teased there were ‘plans afoot’ for more movies, not just a threequel.

"We had lots of people who wanted to be in the movie and lots didn't work out because of dates," he explained.

"So hopefully, they can come back in Good Burger 3."

Traill, who grew up in the UK, added that he ‘loved’ the original flick when it came out in 1997 but didn’t realise ‘how insanely popular it was in America’.

"As we were making it, more and more people came to line the streets to watch us filming. Kenan and Kel drove the Burgermobile around town and everywhere they went, we stopped traffic, [people were] screaming in the streets, there were news reports every day from the set... it was like, 'Oh wow, this is really something,” he said.

"It slowly dawned on me how many people are looking forward to watching the sequel – it's been 25 years that they've been waiting for it."

The sequel dropped on Paramount+ earlier this week.

Taking place 26 years after the events of the first film, Good Burger 2 sees Dexter reunite with his co-worker Ed at their old workplace, Good Burger.

And, with a new crew working at Good Burger, Dexter devises a plan to get back on his feet. But, unfortunately, that puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.

Traill says there's almost an endless list of story ideas for future movies.

"We can just do it again and again and put them in crazier and crazier situations. There's plans afoot for various different things," he said.

"I don't think it has to be limited to a trilogy, it can go on."

Earlier this year, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kenan revealed how incredibly ‘blessed’ to be reunited with his old co-star.

“He's one of the funniest people I've ever met. When we spend hours upon hours upon hours, it's just all laughs and good times,” he said.

"And I'm really excited to open this new chapter up — this reunited adventure we are going to go on together,” Kenan added.

Hmmm. Wonder if he has a third film in him?
