Britney Spears' first ever movie is coming to Netflix after never being available to stream before

The first movie to ever star Britney Spears is coming to Netflix soon.

While Britney Spears may be best known for her music career, the 42-year-old has a few movies up her sleeves.

If you're a subscriber to Netflix - and let's face it, who's not - then you'll know it can be difficult to know what to put on.

If you are looking for a feel-good movie about the bonds of female friendship, then the 2002 film which stars Spears in her first ever leading role - as well as Guardian of the Galaxy's Zoe Saldaña - is right up your street.

On Monday (January 22), Netflix announced that Crossroads would be streamable with a subscription starting February 15.

"The first movie to ever star the one and only Britney Spears has never been available on streaming... but that's about to change!" Netflix said on their social media channels.

"We're thrilled to announce that Crossroads will finally be available on Netflix — GLOBALLY — starting February 15."

Spears starred as Lucy Wagner in the movie, along with Saldaña (Kit), Anson Mount (Ben) and Taryn Manning (Mimi).

Lucy, Kit, and Mimi decide to set out on a cross-country road trip after finding their childhood wish box on the night of their graduation.

With no plan and practically no money either, the girls rely on Mimi's friend Ben and his convertible.

However, it becomes the road trip of a lifetime as they discover 'how important it is to hold onto their hearts' desires'.

While it may be making its way to Netflix, Crossroads doesn't have the best critical reputation behind it.

The movie has a shockingly low 15 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with one reviewer stating, "Crossroads adopts such a self-important tone that it's embarrassing."

Critic Emanuel Levy added: "Naive and amateurish in both the negative and positive sense of these terms, Crossroads provides a disappointing showcase for pop icon and youth symbol Britney Spears, who pretends to be the new-retro Sandra Dee."

It wasn't all bad, though.

The BBC's review called Spears 'natural, endearing, and extremely likeable'.

The film has since garnered a cult status - and many people were pretty happy with the news.

One person wrote on Facebook: "I remember seeing this in the theater when I was in college! Love me some Brit then, now and always!"

Another said: "I'll repeat watching and watching again and again!!!"

A third said, " This is the Best news I've seen all day!! Thank you, Netflix, for finally adding this film. I can't wait to see it again!!"
