Amy Schumer has revealed her thoughts on Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie six years after walking away from the lead role.

The comedian took to Instagram to share that she really ‘enjoyed’ both Barbie and Oppenheimer; however, she said she should have been cast as Emily Blunt’s role of Kitty in Christopher Nolan's film.

She jokingly wrote ‘Do better Hollywood’ alongside a picture of her with a stern look wearing sunglasses and a straw hat.

The 42-year-old’s comments come after she stepped down from Barbie after passing on a script that would see the funny lady star as the famous doll who gets kicked out of Barbie Land for not being ‘perfect enough’.

Initially, Schumer said that she couldn’t shoot the movie due to scheduling conflicts; however, last year, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “They definitely didn’t want to do it the way I wanted to do it, the only way I was interested in doing it.”

The comedian added that she wanted her Barbie to be an ambitious inventor; however, Sony insisted her character invent the Jelly-O shot heel.

Riveting stuff.

Schumer also knew it was a bad fit after the studio sent her a pair of Manolo Blahniks to celebrate her landing the part.

“The idea that that’s just what every woman must want, right there,” Schumer said of the shoes.

“I should have gone, ‘You’ve got the wrong gal.’”

Shortly after the Trainwreck star turned down the role, Anne Hathaway was in negotiations to play the Mattel toy before Margot Robbie and her production company Lucky Chap snagged the rights to it.

Robbie and her colleagues then convinced Warner Bros. Pictures to back the project before enlisting Gerwig to direct the film and co-write the script with partner Noah Baumbach.

But there’s no bad blood here, as Schumer revealed a month ago that despite ‘creative differences’, she was still excited to see the flick.

“There’s like a new team behind it and it looks like it’s very feminist and cool, so I will be seeing that movie,” she said.

“I can’t wait to see the movie, I think it looks awesome."

Barbie broke several records at the box office on its opening weekend, bringing in more than $155 million in the US, making it the biggest domestic opening of 2023.

It also had the biggest debut for a female-directed film on its opening day.

Gerwig's movie grossed USD $70.5 million in the US, defeating 2017’s Wonder Woman, which accumulated USD $38 million domestically.
