‘Must watch’ Netflix romance drama hailed ‘tearjerker done right’ is becoming essential viewing for Valentine's Day

Viewers have been left floored by the film’s unexpected plot twist

A Netflix romantic drama, which has left viewers in floods of tears, has quickly become one of the most-watched movies on the platform right now.

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, the pressure is on for the perfect night in.

But sometimes, the best kind of Valentine’s watch is the one that completely emotionally destroys you, in my opinion.

And if you’re in the mood for a proper cry, then stick on this '10/10' tearjerker - and thank me later.

The film in question is currently one of the most watched on Netflix, according to FlixPatrol data, standing at number three on the streamer's global charts.

It follows Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's action movie, The Rip, and true crime documentary The Investigation of Lucy Letby.

Set in South Korea, Even If This Love Disappears Tonight tells a bittersweet romantic story about two high school students whose love must restart every single day because one of them can’t form new memories.

Han Seo-yoon, played by Shin Si-ah, is a high school girl who wakes up each morning with no memory of the previous day due to a form of anterograde amnesia.

Kim Jae-won, played by Choo Young-woo, is her shy classmate who knows Seo-yoon won’t remember him, but decides to pursue a relationship anyway.

Every day, Seo-yoon forgets their past moments together, so Jae-won must rebuild their connection again and again.

There is more to the story, but the less you know going into it, the better.

Having released on Netflix on February 3, 2026, the film is an adaptation of the Japanese novel Konya, Sekai Kara Kono Koi ga Kietemo by Misaki Ichijo, which was previously adapted into a 2022 Japanese movie.

As it's climbed the streamer's charts, it's also racked up high ratings over on IMDb.

Rating the film a 10/10, one person hailed the romcom a 'must-watch movie', adding: "[It's] one of the best I have seen. The ending is well done and it will make you cry for sure."

A second said it was a 'tearjerker done right', writing: "I don't think I could ever fully explain how much I love this film.

"It left me both devastated and strangely happy at the same time."

The conversation continued over on Reddit, where one viewer weighed in: "I was bawling my eyes out during the last 30 minutes! I did not see that plot [twist] coming."

Another agreed: "The last 30 minutes were the saddest minutes ever… Overall what a great movie, I’d recommend it to anyone if they need a good cry."
