Netflix users might have predicted the future as their worst fears surrounding this new brilliant show have come true and it has been cancelled.
Netflix regularly greenlights projects and then decides, maybe not, and ends up canning them.
For some viewers, this isn’t a problem because... well, there just is no chance the streaming giant would cancel heavy hitters like Stranger Things, but for fans of sleeper hits, this is more an issue.Viewers have come to calling this phenomenon the 'Mindhunter Treatment'.
Why, you might ask?
Well, the brilliant Mindhunter TV series went down really well with crime lovers back in 2017 when it was released.
The show focused on two FBI workers who attempt to understand the mind of infamous serial killers, and defining patterns of behavior to better prevent and identify them.
Running for two seasons between 2017 and 2019 has a banging average Rotten Tomatoes tomatometer of 97 percent and popcornmeter of 95. So you would think the streaming giant would be milked dry, but no dice, it was cancelled on Netflix.
Some fans are furious Netflix has cancelled another enjoyable series (Netflix) And now, it seems another show that fans have called a 10/10 won’t even be getting a second season, and that show is none other than The Residence.
The program stars none other than Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito and Orange is the New Black's Uzo Aduba alongside others including Molly Griggs, Ken Marino, and Randall Park.
The setting is the backstairs of the White House with '132 rooms' and 'one disastrous State Dinner'. Those involved? '157 suspects. 1 dead body. 1 wildly eccentric detective'. It sounds like the making of a fun murder mystery story and fans certainly thought so.
But now that they have learnt of its cancellation, many have been snapping at the streaming giant.
Fans are annoyed the show couldn't even get a second season (Netflix) One user on Twitter wrote: “The Residence was actually good wtf.”
Another added: “The Residence, another incredible series that Netflix abandons after just one season.”
With a third writing: “This is why I try not to get to invested in tv shows now. How can Netflix cancel The Residence? It was a brilliant show.”
With another adding: “Bummed to hear The Residence won't get another season, but the one season is completely self contained, so you should go watch it anyway because it's phenomenal.”
At least fans can enjoy the first season and cherish that at least, small victories.
