TV fans will be delighted to know that Netflix has renewed one of its most highly-rated new shows - and with a score of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, you can understand why.

With the exception of Mindhunter - we won't get into the travesty of that epic show only having two seasons - Netflix is generally pretty good at giving the audience what it wants.

The streamer quickly renewed Wednesday following its resounding success, and gave a new lease of life to Manifest after the gripping series was cancelled on TV.

Now, Netflix has gone and done it again, by renewing a series fans have described as '10/10'.

Having quietly arrived on Netflix in early November, Blue Eye Samurai follows the protagonist, Mizu, who lives in disguise as she attempts to get revenge on those who made her an outcast.

Set in Edo-period Japan, the anime series stars Maya Erskine as Mizu, as well as Brenda Song, Kenneth Branagh and George Takei.

Critics have shared rave reviews for the show, and numerous Netflix users have taken to X to share their praise.

"BLUE EYE SAMURAI is amazing," one viewer wrote, adding: "Incredible story and action."

Many other fans were desperate for the news of a second season of the show, and Netflix delivered this week by confirming the renewal on X.

"Revenge does not rest. Blue Eye Samurai will return for Season 2," the streamer announced yesterday (12 December).

Needless to say, fans are over the moon with the news.

"i need more mizu immediately," one Netflix user wrote after the streamer shared its post, as another posted: "Blue Eye Samurai returns for season 2. I am ready!"

Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, who created the show, shared their excitement at its renewal in a statement, saying: “When we started this project, we made a commitment to take this very personal story set in Edo-period Japan and bring it to life in the most authentic and beautiful way possible.

"Our animators, historians, musicians, martial artists and voice cast made this a reality beyond our expectations.

"We are thankful to our entire team and to our viewers from all over the world who have shown such passion for Mizu and her path of revenge. Mizu has a lot more blood to spill! We are deeply grateful to our incredible partners at Netflix for letting the journey continue.”

Netflix has not confirmed exactly when Mizu will be back on our screens for season two of Blue Eye Samurai, but hopefully fans won't have too long to wait!
