A new Netflix show is being praised by viewers for ditching your typical love storyline to instead dedicate filling the soppy scenes with action-packed drama.

Almost every series or movie these days has some element of romance in it - whether that be Jaime and Cersei Lannister's incestuous relationship in Game of Thrones, or Ellie's romantic endeavours in The Last of Us.

While it can make for great TV, seeing it constantly does get tiresome, that might be why this new Netflix production that was released toward the beginning of last month, has already clocked over 85,000,000 hours worldwide.

In fact, that was just from its release on June 6 till June 30 - so that number will be much greater.

The show follows an ex-gangster who returns home after more than a decade hiding, hoping to uncover the truth about his brother's death. However, he won't stop there.

Armed with a baseball bat he tackles Seoul's criminal underworld to seek revenge against those who had any involvement in his sibling's killing.

What it lacks for in sensual scenes, it makes up for in thrilling fighting sequences - and with their being two criminal gangs and mob bosses ruling over the South Korean capital, there's plenty of gore.

The show is called Mercy for None and it stars So Ji-seob as Nam Gi-joon - the brother seeking revenge.

Viewers of the seven-part series have since taken to Twitter to heap praise on those involved with the production.

One user posted: "Mercy for None bgs bgtt!!! Its not only abt revenge but, the whole story and the plot are freaking brilliant.

"The actor are so incredible, it's not only the main lead but every character in this drama is well played. andd the best part is there’s no f**kn lov story. i lovv it!!"

While another wrote: "Mercy for None is a quick revenge drama with some absolutely incredible fighting scenes. If you can handle violence without getting triggered then it's a must watch."

With a third adding: "I recently watched Mercy for None, and it was awesome. I'd definitely recommend it. Fight scenes are incredible."

Mercy for None, original title Gwang-jang, received a respectable score of 7.5 on IMDb, and as you may have already guessed - the show was filmed and shot in the South Korean capital city.
