Netflix fans have a chance to enjoy an animation gem that its fans have long praised as it just dropped on the streaming platform today.

Animation films are now kind of a dime a dozen, but this wasn’t always the case.

Following the brilliance of the Shrek and Ice Age franchises, people started to appreciate that animated comedies could bring a lot more to the table if you wanted something slightly different to Disney’s animated films (as brilliant as they can be).

Unfortunately, there was a release in the 2010s that sort of flew under the radar and since then its fans have been trying to shine a light on it.

Even if you haven’t seen the film, you have likely laughed at some of the memes it spawned so now might be the best time to give it a chance.

The film in question is, of course, DreamWorks’ Megamind.

The film features an all-star cast including Jonah Hill, Brad Pitt, Will Ferrell, and Tina Fey who all give a brilliant performance.

The story followers a supervillain, Megamind, who eventually loses his arch nemesis, the heroic Metro Man, and must find a new purpose in life after no longer having someone to thwart all of his schemes.

It is admittedly a little out there, but execution and presentation is everything and the film delivers well on both fronts.

Fans have long argued how brilliant the film is and told anyone who will listen that the film should be at the top of their watch list.

One fan on Reddit wrote: “I think Megamind is still severely underappreciated. Many people probably thought it was some "Incredibles Wannabe" or something when it clearly wasn't.”

Another agreed and added: “It's disgustingly underrated and got hugely overshadowed by Despicable Me. It's one of my favorite films ever. OP, you are 100% correct. High fives.”

Another impassioned fan wrote: “Megamind is in my top five favorite feel-good movies. If I feel like s***... Megamind will turn it around. It's so funny and cute.”

One really dedicated fan broke down on Reddit why it was such a brilliant movie and worth your time.

They commented: “I forgot how absolutely brilliant, maybe even perfect, this movie is. Why is that? Let me break it down:

“The casting and is perfect. The concept is genius. The plot upholds the brilliance of the concept. [There is] an exceptional villain. The movie is always funny. From start to finish, I was laughing.”

“I'm sure there's more stuff I'm forgetting but whatever, this movie is a gem.”
