It comes from US author Harlan Coben, who was behind Netflix hits including Fool Me Once, Safe, and The Stranger.

All have scored more than 70 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but this eight-parter comes out on top, racking up an immaculate 10/10 from critics.

Mateo (Mario Casas) was worked hard to build his dream life with wife Olivia (Aura Garrido); they're expecting their first child together and are even closing in on their dream home.

But all that's thrown up in the air when Olivia receives a worrying call while on a business trip. Nine years prior, Mateo had attempted to break up a fight, accidentally killing a man in the process.

But new developments means he might have to fight to clear his name once more. The series is based on - and named after - Harlan Coben's The Innocent.

Taking to the Netflix Bangers Facebook Group, people were quick to praise the miniseries.

"I have stayed up all night watching The Innocent," one fan admitted, as a second agreed: "Watching The Innocent, getting better by the second. Very gripping. Worth a watch."

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, one fan urged people to 'drop everything' for the Netflix series, writing: "If you are doing something right now... just STOP doing it and you can continue after you finish this series."

"It's worth it, believe me. Thank me later," they added.

The sentiment was echoed by NME critic James McMahon, who said: "Engage with it as fully as you can - and enjoy The Innocent's wild, wild ride."

Elsewhere, one fan penned: "I've never watched a show where I couldn’t get distracted one minute, Hollywood doesn’t make series like this anymore."

Another wrote: "Hands down one of the best shows I have ever seen! You’ll be glued literally the entire time, and the character development... was so good I teared up here and there throughout every episode."

Meanwhile, someone else commented: "Perfect series, must watch. So captivating I watched five straight episodes back to back."
