A series that fans were lead to believe would only have one season is coming back for another, Netflix has confirmed.

Typically when something is advertised as a 'limited series' it means that there will only be one season. Some of Netflix's best known limited series include The Queen's Gambit, Inventing Anna, and Maid, with more recent titles being Sirens, The Perfect Couple, and Adolescence.

While all of the above have been hugely popular with Netflix viewers, the streamer has stuck to its word and kept them as a single-season show.

The same can't be said for Untamed though, which has just been confirmed to be getting another season.

Untamed only landed on Netflix on July 17 and, as of July 21, a whopping 127,000,000 hours of the TV show had already been viewed, as per FlixPatrol — and it remains in the number one spot on the streaming platform's top 10.

The show stars Eric Bana, best known for starring in Troy, Hulk, and The Time's Traveler's Wife, who plays National Park Service agent, Kyle Turner.

Hollywood veteran and Jurassic Park alum Sam Niell also stars.

Netflix's synopsis of Untamed reads: "In the vast expanse of Yosemite National Park, a woman's death draws a federal agent into lawless terrain — where nature obeys no rules but its own."

People have enjoyed Untamed so much that they binged the six-part season in a day.

Sharing their reviews on social media, one person hailed Untamed as 'the best, most attention-grabbing opening scenes I've seen in any TV show in a long, long time'.

Somebody else raved: "Loved it. Binged it today couldn't stop!"

Netflix announced the news on July 29 that Kyle Turner will be returning to our screens, something that Untamed lead Bana is 'thrilled' about.

"I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of Untamed to life,” Bana said in a statement via Tudum.

"The response to Season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique. I can’t wait to take Kyle on his next journey.

"Massive thanks to Netflix, John Wells Productions, Warner Bros. Television and our fans."

Elsewhere Untamed co-creator Mark L. Smith spoke out on his initial intention of making the show be just one season.

"I envisioned it as a stand-alone, six episodes," he shared, "but then the more that we got into it, it was just such a great cast... it was just like, 'Oh yeah, how do we keep this going?'"

It hasn't yet been revealed when filming for the new season will begin and when fans can expect it to land on Netflix.
